Review Quotes
"What Goes on Inside a Wolf Pack provides a beautifully illustrated, poetically written story about a year in the life of a typical Yellowstone wolf pack. Underlying this tale is a scientifically accurate portrayal of wolves and the Yellowstone ecosystem they live in, along with an abundance of visual natural history gems that readers of all ages will enjoy and learn from." --Daniel Stahler, Senior Wildlife Biologist and Yellowstone Wolf Project Leader, Yellowstone National Park
"What Goes on inside a Wolf Pack invites children to see wolves not as fearsome creatures, but as families-teaching loyalty, care, and the beauty of living in community. In smartly written panels about anatomy, about the wolves' neighbors, the ravens, the bears, wildflowers, and rivers-there is an insistence that nothing lives in isolation, that every creature, even a wolf, is part of a larger story. Parents and teachers alike will find here not just natural history, but Kathleen Yale's essential, signature way to help young readers understand their own place in the wider, wondrous world."--Aimee Nezhukumatathil, New York Times bestselling-author of World of Wonders
"I want to buy this book for every young person--not to mention every curious, nature-loving one--in my life. With gorgeous, spell-casting illustrations, What Goes on Inside a Wolf Pack is a celebration not only of those traits and habits that make this creature unique, but also all they share with other Yellowstone inhabitants. A gorgeous portrait of both an animal and an ecosystem."--Erica Berry, author of Wolfish
"If this book was out when I was younger, I would have read it over and over each night, memorized each fact, and begun to plan my career as a wildlife researcher. Vivid, action-packed, and intimate, What Goes on Inside a Wolf Pack is a joy to read!"--Sy Montgomery, author of The Soul of an Octopus
