Q: How does it separate the used litter from clean litter?

A: The Litter-Robot uses litter very efficiently as the sifting system separates the clumps from the clean litter and deposits them into the waste drawer below.

While the manufacturer recommends clay-clumping litter, small crystal litter beads or crystals that pass through the sifting screen will work. However, translucent or white-colored crystal litters may affect the accuracy of the litter level and Drawer Full Indicator (DFI). Worked great for over a year. Then out of the blue it started randomly disconnecting and going offline. Now my LR4 vanished entirely from the app and I cannot get it to connect via Wi-Fi, no matter what I try. I’ve done all thee troubleshooting steps. Nothing works. Occassioaly it will appear on my network but the LR4 still shows blinking blue light as if it is connecting. Even if app says connection successful it never shows the device in the app. This HAS to be a firmware or software update bug because many seem to be having this trouble based on reviews in the last month. NOTHING changed on my network and no other devices are having any trouble. Now I get a password error trying to join wifi and the password is 100% correct. Tried multiple times. Both normal and guest network and tells me pwd is wrong. Growing impatient with this $800 litter box that can’t keep a connection when every other electronic device in the house has zero issues.

I bought this over a year ago and it's still working great, no issues. I have 4 healthy cats, 1 LR4. I empty it every other day. My life is so much better with the LR4. Prior to this, I had 3 litter boxes and was scooping each box at least twice a day. 😭 Buy one of these, you won't regret it. I deep clean mine once every 2 months.

Who in their right mind would spend $800.00 on a litter box? I went for the cleanpethome does better then litter robot @ a fraction of the price weighs cat uses ozone to kill cat oders and bags used litter.It works so well bought 2 more for family members.

As a first-time kitty mama, I was nervous about the litterbox aspect. The LR4 is so quiet and works seamlessly to eliminate the need for scooping. There is still some stink, so I separately purchased some carbon filters and deodorizer packs. The base of my LR arrived cracked, which didn't affect performance but I filed a claim and they promptly sent a replacement free of charge and fast. I will definitely add on the 3 year warranty based on how easy that was. Overall, I'd recommend the LR4!

First of all I would like to say though I’m happy with this litter box, I am FURIOUS with target. I ordered this litter but, after no more than TWO hours I regretted the purchase, only because it costs so much and I realized that I couldn’t afford it. I contacted target customer service THREE separate times, every time I was promised a return form email within THREE days (in which the litter robot would most definitely be delivered before then) and I got NO email. That was more than a week ago and I STILL haven’t gotten an email. I make this negative review because I tried TWICE today to get in contact with customer service and both times they connected me to someone else who ignored me. I’m FURIOUS with target and this experience alone decided that I will NEVER shop at target again. I was a huge target customer up until now

The Whisker Litter robot 4 is an OK product. The opening is large enough to fit the large pee clumps that my diabetic cat has through out the day. However, the sensors are absolute crap. It is not able to accurately sense when my cat is in or out of the box. I often get errors that the “weight scale has been active for 30 min” BUT you are unable to manually cycle it from the app when the “cat sensor timing” is incorrectly on. So the waste just sits there until you are able to MANUALLY cycle it by pressing the buttons (like what’s the point of the app???), causing my cat to go outside of the box because it’s dirty, which is just lovely. I also often get the error that the cat sensors go off in the middle of cycling, causing it to pause, when my cat is no where near the box. So, it pauses when it’s tilted and just sits there, so my cat has the litter sideways or none at all. The pee clumps often stick to the bottom of the box which causes us to have to manually peel them off with a scoop a few times a day. We tried the casa Leo loo too before this, and the sensor is much better, and you can manually run it from your phone whenever. Only gripe with the casa Leo was that the opening was too small for his pee clumps so every time he went we would have to push it down with a scoop. We will be sticking with the litter robot because of this, but it’s honestly almost as much work as a normal litter box. We reached out to litter robot and then are sending us a new sensor panel, like I should be able to replace it (i’m literally not handy at all), so we will see how it goes.

The litter just goes in the drawer underneath it still smells terrible (2cats). We got rid of it and went back to scooping and putting used litter in the diaper genie because that sealed it each day so the smell is a lot less with that. Not a great product. The motor has been replaced twice and the sensors have been replaced.

Please pay attention to the 1 Star reviews. I had all the same issues and some. Not even a year and mine went to the trash. Went back to traditional boxes.

This is our second litter robot and it’s definitely the most well thought out design. We do have issues sometimes with it cycling- it’s a little sensitive but as with every electrical device on the planet - turning it off and back on usually fixes it for awhile. It’s so much better than scooping and the smell is almost non existent. I couldn’t live without it.

DO NOT BUY. There is poop, and litter smeared in every possibly crevice it could be in. It never rotates. EVERYTIME I walk past this thing it’s filled with clumps. I’m disgusted I spent this amount of money for this. I miss scooping litter boxes. With a basic litter box there’s no crevices, the clean up it MUCH easier- and you’re EXPECTED to do your job daily. with the litter robot we expected to NOT have to literally wipe it down daily and we do- because there is constantly poop smeared all over. I am so disgusted with this product (because it’s literally disgusting& also THE COST!!!) Knowing what I know now I wouldn’t have even bought it if it were $100. I swear I’m a knowledgeable person- I read the reviews I figured the other 1 star reviews were bitter people Who didn’t know what they were doing. after 3 weeks of this litter robot I 100% back the other 1 star ratings and regret buying this.

These litters tend to clump slower, leaving sticky, sometimes gummy messes that can interfere with the sifting process. Excess moisture build-up can also lead to significant odor. If you are not already, we recommend using a standard clay clumping litter, as it tends to clump hard, sift easily, and absorb odor. I absolutely love the litter robot. It makes having two cats so much easier. I only have to change the drawer once a week. Great odor control. I face it ti the wall because one of my cats likes to leap out of it so by facing it to the wall there’s less scatter. 10/10 would recommend. The refurbished litter robot looked brand new. No issues since I got it 2 months ago. It is bigger than expected so definitely measure before buying

I bought a brand new unit and then picked up a reconditioned unit. I love the Litter Robot 4. Next time I'll go with another new unit. The refurb one works but compared to the new unit I see differences. The refurb keeps saying lens dirty - even though it was brand new (to me). I have learned to ignore the alert as the unit works and I can't seem to clean the lens.

I did get a used litter robot so I don’t know if that’s the reason to me having issues connecting it to my phone. But it still works whether it’s connected or not, I just have to check on it rather than being able to check the app if there’s something wrong. But my cat loves it and I do too! At first she would just lay in it lol. But It really does help with the smell and it’s amazing if you barely have time but don’t want your pet to be neglected. Yes it’s pricy but it’s definitely worth it, I hope it lasts me many many years..

We love this version! Very Very quiet! I am hoping that it lasts a long time. The previous version had an issue with sensors corroding in a humid environment. Hoping that is not the case any longer.

I called for a replacement, but line was busy for weeks. after a few weeks of not having a working litter box i crafted one out of the box it came it. got the new unit. it also worked great but this time for a month or 2 so 90day return was up. hope this helps! the box it came it worked great and for longer.
