Q: This unit is very noisy. When compressor kicks on sounds like a scraping sound until compressor gets up to speed. When compressor shuts off you can hear the scraping sound as it winds down. Defective?

Strange noises. Like scraping sound

I'm not sure what to think about this unit. I replaced a 4-year-old unit due to vibration and noises. Replacing it before it totally went out. This one here is louder than my old one and makes strange scraping noises when compressor kicks in. I would like to exchange it and try another one but only option is to return it. And if I buy another one to replace it, it's now $40 higher. Not sure if this is normal noises for a variable compressor but I wouldn't think so. It does get cold, and has good air flow just not sure if this unit is going to last. Would like to talk to a tech support that actually knew something to reassure me that this thing will last. I'm an old man and swapping out AC unit is not so easy for me anymore. My 90 day return window expires in 2 weeks. And I can't even order another one right now because they're out of stock. Bought unit in March to get prepared for summer. I wish it was hot outside now so I could run this all day for a few days solid to make sure this unit don't crap out on me.
