Q: Is this version family friendly?

submitted by Rhea - 4 years ago
  • A: This version is family friendly, in the sense that there doesn't seem to be anything that's inappropriate for kids. I haven't come across any questions with inappropriate content, but some of the questions might be harder for kids 10 and under to make a guess for just because they don't have enough life experience. But this version should be fine for tweens and teens.

submitted byphatty - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes, all the questions are family friendly. Some of the questions may contain historical references that young children might not know (i.e. Winston Churchill). So younger players might have a question about a subject. But that ends up being educational anyway.

submitted bynickwaltzer - 4 years ago
  • A: This is recommended for ages 13+.

Q: Are the questions in the game appropriate for kids?

submitted by lolo4 - 4 years ago
  • A: The questions in the game are appropriate for kids. There's no off-color or edgy content. The questions should definitely be fine for tweens and teens. However, I wouldn't say the questions are geared for kids, like they are in the Family Edition. I think some of the questions might be harder for kids 10 and under to make a guess for, just because they don't have enough life experience. If you're playing with kids 10 and under, I'd recommend having them play on a team with either an adult or an older sibling.

Q: Is this version stand-alone? From the pictures, there seem to be differences between this and just the expansion set one?

submitted by I like tea - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes, this is a stand-alone game. If you buy this, you don't need anything else to play. It also has 100% new questions, which is good if you own a previous version of the game.

submitted byphatty - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes, this version is a standalone. All new questions, and includes new ways to bet.

Q: Is it still fun to play with 4 players?

submitted by Anonymous - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes, it's still fun with 4 players for sure. Simply cover the middle betting space with something. And you are good to go! It's the same game, so enjoy!

Q: It says 5 or more players but can it be adapted for 4 players?

submitted by Jflo - 4 years ago
  • A: You can adapt it if you want to play with 4 players. The best way to do this would be to use the 5-player setup and then also block off the middle betting space by covering it with something. In my opinion, Wits & Wagers is the more, the merrier though. The game is best when you have 5 - 7 players or an even larger group where you play in teams. This is probably my go-to game for 5+ players.

Q: Are there sports questions?

submitted by Owen W - 3 years ago
  • A: Questions in Wits & Wagers Vegas tend to typically focus around general trivia knowledge, but not particularly related to sports. We do however have a four free sets of questions, which includes sports, available in a downloadable PDF. Printing and cutting is required. If you would like to receive these questions, please email us at digital@northstargames.com.

Poor reprint of a great game

This print of the game does not have enough white chips to play. I had to purchase actual poker chips to be able to play this. Also, the markers do not come with erasers, and stain the boards. Also had to buy replacement markers, which worked well. It's a really fun game, but I feel you should be able to play this out of the box. I will say it's cheaper than the regular addition though (got this for $22, the one without a bar code on the corner of the box is around $40 and better quality). Basically, get ready to buy add-one if you plan on buying this one.

I first saw this game at a get together and liked it so much I had to buy it. Easily the most engaging game without encouraging anger or subjective opinions for a group. Everyone in the group attempts to correctly guess the fact and then each player gets to place bets on whose guess is correct. For example it might ask you; how tall is the Empire State Building and each player writes down a number and then uses their chips to bet on themselves or others. We have found this to be the best game to suit a variety of ages from 10-80. I have found myself buying this for various gift exchanges throughout the holiday season.

Too few $1 chips, difficult to erase markers

3 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
HeyNey - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
The questions are fun, but we ran out of $1 chips after the first round. They give you $20, and you need $13 to set up the game, leaving you with $7 to use for a game meant for 5 or more players. We had to use pennies to supplement the $1 chips. And the dry erase markers did not erase easily. We had to really scrub the board to get the marker off. We found dry erase markers lying around the house and used those instead.

This game is perfect for the person who loves crunching numbers and a logical brain. I can’t say I had much success playing, but I still had fun with the game and followed along without confusion. If you aren’t familiar with Vegas style, you may have to read the directions once or twice, but you pick it up fast. I would recommend ages 10 and up. My 8 year old wanted to play but ended up dropping out because she was bored.

My family loves this game! It’s really easy to learn how to play. We bought extra chips from the dollar store to make it a little easier while playing. Well worth the money for a fun family/friends game night.
