About the Author
Bill Martin, Jr. (1916-2004) has been called "America's favorite children's author." He wrote more than 300 books for children, including the classic texts Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, illustrated by Eric Carle, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, illustrated by Lois Ehlert. John Archambault is a poet, journalist, and storyteller who worked with Bill Martin, Jr. on several projects. He lives in Idyllwild-Pine Cove, California. I love Chicka Chicka Boom Boom so I thought this would be a slam dunk, but this book is by far my least favorite book that we have purchased for my son. The contrast of the colors is terrible, the “words” selected are confusing and strange, and the descriptions of the groups of words are non-sensical like “these words are prancy words” and then lists some words like “tango.” Reading this books feels like reading something that was due later that day and the team threw together whatever they could come up with in 5 minutes and pushed it out the door. Don’t waste your money.
