Description
The Landroid Anti-Collision System, or ACS, is like a pair of glasses for your Landroid. Now it’ll be able to spot obstacles and lawn features up to 8 inches away, and 5 inches high, and steer to avoid them, instead of running into them. That means it’ll mow faster and do a more efficient job of mowing your lawn. See, without ACS, every time Landroid bumps into something that can knock it off its game, it has to recalculate where it is in your yard. That’s just how most robotic lawn mowers work. But when you pop on the ACS, Landroid can dodge bushes and child toys and stay on course to keep your yard neat and tidy. It uses automotive-grade anti-collision technology to pull this off. You know, the same kind of sensors that warn you when another car is in your blind spot. That keeps Landroid from scuffing its paint, but more importantly, it also minimizes damage to the structures around your yard. Everybody wins when Landroid uses the Anti-Collision System. Robot mowers are premium devices. Give yours all the tools it needs to perform as well as it can, so you can spend your weekend relaxing with the confidence that Landroid will make the lawn look nice, all by itself.

It works sometimes, but often it will still bumps into things. Especially when performing a reverse movement due to getting stuck, it basically ignores and keeps turn/reversing and then moving forward straight into objects. So even with ACS the landroid can not be used with my chairs on the lawn

Simply DOES NOT WORK

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have extensive footage of this NOT working at all. It runs into almost everything and out of about 230 times it bumps into things.. I have THREE that it avoided properly. It has hit ME, storage sheds, cones, 27 gallon totes, sleeping dog, scared cat, 55 gallon drum, 5 gallon buckets, chairs, chaise, concrete blocks, and more. It always hits me no matter how many times I have tried to stand in front of it (at any distance). It has gone around a few objects that I don't count to it's 3 successes as it overcorrected and the back wheel struck the item! I love the mower (5 stars) but this ACS is infuriatingly expensive for something that fails 95% of the time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works when it wants to. Sometimes it will go around a tall patch of grass that you actually want to cut, other times it runs into an object and just keeps spinning the wheels until it digs so deep it gets stuck in its own ruts or it dies. Usually the digging til stuck thing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a lot of objects on my farmhouse property so it was too much to run the boundry wire or use the off limits accessory. This works very well, even around cars and farm equipment. At first I wasn't sure it was going to work since it waits until the very last minute to redirect, but that's what you want!

Still bumps into bricks surrounding plants! I guess bricks are not tall enough for the ACS to “see”. The ACS should point downward instead of straight ahead?! Is this possible?
1 reply from Customer Experience team - 3 years ago
Hello Valued Customer. Thank you for your question. This is not possible. The ACS is for larger flat objects that are usually not permanent, like children's toys or etc... Objects like flower beds and etc.. should be lollipopped with the boundary if possible. Please check out our self-help options on our website at https://www.worx.com/contact?openByDefault=true. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Anti-Collision System because my wife was concerned about kids running around in the back yard. I stepped about 3 feet in front of the Landroid, and it ran over my shoe. If I stand a little farther away, it will go around me. Supposedly the Landroid will move a little faster with the sensor. I'll have to do some speed trials to confirm. Lots of mixed reviews on the ACS. For some situations it works well. However, for what it claims to be (anti-collision), it should work well against most (90%) things that are more than 5" high, and a few inches wide (like a kids leg or a pole). It does excel at giving my wife peace of mind, so I'll keep it.

It really helps my Landroid navigate through the shrubs. However, it does not see a large maple trunk because the grass/ground around the trunk is sloped up towards the trunk.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For this price "KIND OF WORKS" is just not good enough. Yes, it turns at shiny things and plants in the yard, and even toys just fine. Mine, unfortunately, runs into a two-foot diameter tree every time it mows. The main reason to have this device does not have to plant the boundary wire. The only fix I found to make it so this does not run into the tree is to put a boundary wire around the tree.

Does not see a gate and tears up the grass

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought that the ACS unit would be perfect for detecting a closed gate, but it does not and just sits there in front of it tearing up my lawn. I have a standard full white 2m tall gate with the boundary wire running g under either side of it.
1 reply from Customer Experience team - 4 years ago
Hi there! The ACS is more to avoid objects along the yard, it will not avoid a gate since it can't go around it. Also if the wire goes under the gate and the Landroid is going over the wire to return to the base to recharge, the ACS will be turned off. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good way to prevent your Landroid from bumping into people that happen to be on your lawn. The built-in bump sensor first has to hit your foot before it stops the mower but with this the mower will attempt to go around you instead. If you have tall above-ground sprinklers on the lawn this will also avoid those. In general it is just good to have so if you have something too soft to be detected by the bump sensor (like a soccer ball) this gives the Landroid the ability to detect it.
Avoids Kids Yard Toys

I just purchased this, installation was easy. I installed this because the unit was getting stuck under my child’s slide since it is on an angle. Now it goes around the slide without issue. For narrow obstructions, like chairs or my patio umbrella, it doesn’t always detect and avoid, but the collisions are reduced. Overall I am satisfied as it will be impacting my patio furniture and child’s toys less frequently. It hasn’t gotten stuck again since adding this and I have seen it avoid impact with the slide.

Good add-on. Note that if there is a fast growing spot (t.ex. weed) at your yard, Landroid may avoid it until it is larger and larger. Tip: switch off ACS until weed spots are gone

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Detects objects in the direct path that are at least 5-6 inches or taller. Tested and verified on several obstacles, recognizes objects as thin as shepherds hooks and will navigate around. One thing we wish it had is the ability to see low objects. i.e. Dog tail laying out. Gotta watch the pups.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So much for the $250 add on. I am not sure what the ACS should catch or not but it has not met my expectations. Even the bumper did not avoid this post.
1 reply from Customer Experience team - 5 years ago
Hi there! Thank you for sharing your honest review. The Landroid ACS system is designed to sense anything in front of it in a 3 foot cone. If your Landroid has just come off a turn after reaching a boundary wire, the ACS system will not be engaged as the primary action of turning off a boundary wire and going straight again overrides any other action the Landroid may engage in, including the ACS system. This is so that your unit will continue to work and not get its priorities mixed. This may be the cause of your problem. The WR140 pictured in this review does not have any bump sensor technology, as that feature is exclusive to the WR150. We would be more than happy to help find a solution to your problem. Please contact the Landroid Support Team at 800-727-6260 for further assistance! Thank you for choosing WORX!
Doesn't detect low obstacles

Yesterday installed Acs on my Landroid L 1500 and was disappointed, it looks good gesigned but can't perform its functions properly. Seems it can't detect stones 10-20 cm high. The obstacles lower than 15 cm doesn't detected at all. I'm afraid to think how it might detect small pets. Is there any solution how to solve this issue?
1 reply from Landroid team - 5 years ago
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience with the Landroid. Anything lower than 5 inches will not be detected by the Anti-collision system. If it is hard for the Landroid to detect a small pet, we would recommend scheduling the Landroid to work in the later part of the day or at a time when the pet is not going to be out in the yard.
