Q: Is it possible (and safe) to put two different sized weights on one bar? For example, using one 3.3 lb and one 2.8 lb to create a 6.1 lb dumbbell?

A: It's ok. But the buyer needs to lock the weight plate tightly to keep safe.

This is a good product for anyone wanting to start out. Although I’m only giving 4 since I don’t know if it was supposed to come for 4 plates each but I’m missing 1 :(

I like this dumbbell set. What I like most about this set is the length of the dumbbell bar. Since they utilize the plastic (larger) weights instead of standard iron weights, the dumbbell bar is longer. I like this because I own both plastic and standard iron weight plates which allows me to mix and match plates and get more weight on the dumbbell bars. The spin collars are plastic instead of metal. Nevertheless, they (the spin collars) work well. Again, this is a good buy.

It does what it's meant to do, but not well. First of all, it came smelling of tires and came with a grease on it, took a few days for it to go away. The dumbbells themselves are very bulky and hard to get a good grip with all the weights on them, despite only weighing a bit over 20 on one dumbbell. The plates are very large despite most of them weighing 10 pounds or under, there's gotta be a way to manufacture them to make them more compact. Or at the very least make the hand bar longer so there's more to grab onto when all the weights are on it. Due to this, some of the exercises I normally do with other dumbbells can no longer be done with this type of dumbbell. On top of that, the collars that keep the weights in place need to be tightened frequently, otherwise the plates start shifting and I'm worried they'll fall off and I'll hurt myself. Like I said, it does what it's meant to so as weights, but not as well as I'd like. Although I guess that's what I get for going the cheaper route.
