Beautiful hardware that doesn't play well with its ecosystem
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the hardware, build and finish are immaculate. Yamaha engineering makes amazing audio products which are underrated because the hype-machine is more focused elsewhere. My peeve is that the performance of this product was underwhelming when I connected it to the Yamaha AS-2200 amplifier. I had great hopes of being completely blown away by the magnificent sound with these 2 products but I was only disappointed and underwhelmed. I tried both the regular AV (sounded relatively better) and the Phono inputs on the Yamaha amp (sounded worse). The reason I still have a 3 star rating is that I was able to salvage the audio quality by channeling the audio from turntable to my DAC / pre-amp to my Yamaha amp. I guess the moral of the story is that you need to know how the product will perform with the entire chain of hardware that your audio signals will pass through, and don't just assume that brand consistency will yield the best results for you.

Description about HomePod compatibility was misleading
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have several HomePods throughout my house. So I thought I'd try to find a turntable I could play through them. After looking different ones, the Vinyl 500 boasted to work with the HomePods. After several hours of troubleshooting, and reading on Reddit, I came to realize I was mislead. I'm pretty disappointed. If you guys don't know how make it run through the HomePods, don't tell people it does. Sure, it will connect to them, but only as a speaker, which is totally whacked. It's not a speaker, it's a turntable. It doesn't produce any sound. Ridiculous.

Great turntable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great looking unit. I did upgrade the l cartridge to an Ortofon Bronze. Great sound. Running it with Yamaha Integrated Amp AS3000 and Belle Klipsch speakers.

Works as advertised! Love being untethered from wires!
Beautiful table. Documentation is a bit sparse. Connecting to my Music Cast receiver did not work initially. Thanks to Yamaha support, unplugging and re-starting the receiver made everything work! When in doubt re-boot! As mentioned in other forums the cartridge is pretty pedestrian given the cost of this unit. The Bluetooth seems a generation behind what's currently available which should be addressed(new chip needed) which will allow better lossless performance. The multi room setup and the flexibility of placement is game changing. Really happy with this unit-for the cost Yamaha should figure out if updating Bluetooth is feasible. The wireless systems Sonos, Heos, Music Cast should all interoperate, at least in my fantasyland they do…. But overall very happy….
