Common weights shown in the results include 65 lb (listed as 65 lb / 176 gsm) and 100 lb cardstock. Listings may show either or both imperial and metric values.

Colored cardstock is used for a wide range of paper crafts, including scrapbooking, greeting cards, origami, envelope making, wedding invitations, place cards, and general card making. Some specialized sheets are also suited to mixed-media and watercolor techniques.

Several card sampler packs include inserts plus white envelopes. Example envelope counts observed in the results range from about 12 up to 42 per pack, though exact inclusions vary by product.

Some packs are described specifically as watercolor or mixed-media cardstock. These often offer a smooth side for detailed work and a textured side for layering color, and are intended for use with water-based markers, inks, paints, and stains.

Sizes in the results range from large craft sheets—such as 12 × 12 inches and 9 × 12 inches—to smaller pre-cut card sizes, including 4.375 × 5.5 inches, 4.25 × 5.5 inches, 4.75 × 4.75 inches, 3.5 × 4.9 inches, and 4.75 × 6.6 inches.

Assortments range from broad multicolor samplers to themed sets—such as pastel or glitz/glam collections. Some starter packs explicitly list many named colors (for example, an 18-color starter kit that lists individual color names).
