Most earth-themed costumes use synthetic fabrics. Listings commonly specify 100% polyester for many kids' styles and inflatable options, and at least one adult inflatable is listed as 100% nylon.

Inflatable earth costumes include a small electric fan built into the tunic (typically mounted on the back) that continuously inflates the windbreaker-style suit. The fan runs on a battery-powered unit while the costume is worn.
