Use lightweight body oils in a few common ways: add a small amount to a warm bath as a bath oil, or pat/apply the oil to damp skin immediately after showering to lock in moisture. For spray mists, hold the bottle close to skin and gently massage the mist in. Creamier oils can be gently massaged onto delicate or sensitive areas. In all cases, apply to slightly damp skin for best absorption and hydration.

Some lightweight body oils are formulated for sensitive or delicate skin and may be labeled hypoallergenic or dermatologist-tested. These often feature gentle ingredients such as aloe and vitamin E and may be described as tear-free or creamy for baby-safe use. Check individual product labels for age recommendations and sensitivity claims before use.

Lightweight body oils are marketed for a range of skin types including normal, dry, combination and mature skin. Many products also list formulations for sensitive skin, and a number indicate suitability for all ages or baby use—check the product label for specific recommendations.

Lightweight body oils are sold in various formats: bath/bath-add oils (to pour into the tub), spray or mist bottles, roll-on applicators, and standard topical bottles for massage or post-shower application.
