Some markers are made for paper, plastic and metal. Glitter paint markers are described for paper, ceramic, canvas, wood and other surfaces.

Common uses include highlighting and note‑taking, bullet journaling and planners, hand lettering and drawing, scrapbooking and greeting cards, classroom and teacher use, and general coloring or craft projects.

Some products reference AP certification (AP certified non‑toxic), and at least one set notes conformity to ASTM D4236.

Erasable pens use a thermo‑sensitive ink that becomes clear with erasing friction so you can rewrite. Descriptions note the ink can become colorless above about 140°F and may restore color after cooling to about 14°F. They advise against using erasable pens on legal or official documents.

Children’s and classic marker sets are described as washable: ink washes from skin, most washable clothing and most painted walls. Some sets are also labeled non‑toxic.
