How to Detangle Curly Hair

Knot today. Ease that styling frustration with a few simple steps to detangle curls, kinks & coils in textured hair.

Step 1

Apply detangler & deep conditioner First, wet your hair—detangling your curls is easiest when hair is wet or damp, and moisture makes strands more elastic and less likely to break. Apply a detangler or pre-poo. Once detangler is rinsed out, apply a deep conditioner. Divide hair into sections and comb through your hair, starting at the bottom and working your way up. The hydration will help soften strands and create the slip you need.

Step 2

Rinse out conditioner, twist & clip After deep conditioner is rinsed out while you’re still in the shower, section hair off & twist hair up using hair clips to hold in place. Remember: Patience is key.

Step 3

Wrap hair Next, grab a clean t-shirt towel and gently wring out excess water. This keeps your hair from rubbing together and creating tangles.

Step 4

Apply styling product Almost set. Apply your fave leave-in conditioner, hair oil or curl crème to damp hair to seal in moisture, define your curls and make them really pop.
