It is free from pathogens, weed seeds, heavy metals, and other harmful contaminants. Additionally, it can be easily blended with other mixes to transform challenging planting environments and is a great option for improving and establishing lawns, planting trees and shrubs and replacing peat in potting soil blends. When used as a peat substitute for potting soils, PittMoss recommends using at least 30-50% of PittMoss Prime with a blend of compost and other amendments. By using PittMoss, gardeners can reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with peat bog mining, and it offers a cleaner, more consistent soil option with rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance.
