It's shark cartilage and I figure the rather unpleasant fish smell is Being shark cartilage it is understandable that there is a smell of fish, but this may not be to everybody's liking.

I don’t like this new Shark Cartilage, when you open the bottle it has an unwelcome smell, I tried to continue taking it, I did for a while, but the smell got to me, so I stopped taking it. I have 3 unopened bottles, I would like to exchange them for Cod Liver oil softgels, those I can take. I have taken Shark Cartilage capsules for over 20 years never have I had a bad experience with them, but these I can’t take they smell terrible. Why did you change them?? For over 20 years no problem, now I cannot take them you should not have changed your product, this is not good for Swansons name. ,

I have use this product for about 20 years now...and it has contributed to extreme mobility even though I’m 65 years old —the cartilage replaces whatever natural Cartilage has worn out and keeps me moving and running 6 miles a day

Best solution for me with no bad side effcts.

I started taking these around 10 years ago when I had a bad hip and knee that made living and doing my job very difficult. It has proven a much better solution than 4800mg of Ibuprofen daily. It has helped all of my joint issues and I don't have to take any other pain medication for my 74 year old bones. I take 9 capsules a day but that is a far better solution than hip or knee replacement surgery.

Waaaay cheaper and better

then Glucosamine-Chondroitin and Instaflex. Instaflex worked where Glucosamine-Chondroitin did not and the only difference was SHARK CARTLAGE.

stinky and enormous

I found these impossible to take. The pills are extremely large, and the smell is SO BAD that it made me nauseous the moment I opened the bottle, nor does the smell make them easy to swallow. I would like Swanson to make the pills about half the size and in some kind of coating because otherwise as much as I'd like to take shark cartilage, I don't see how else I could get the benefit of these.

I caught my 1st Shark in 1963

All the Sharks I've caught fishing over the years, I returned to the Sea. I would have never thought that some day I would be taking Shark Cartilage to help me maintain my own joint cartilage! No doubt it's another quality product from Swanson's, with a good price, and good customer service that customers can count on!
