I wanted to like these so bad... They are a nice size and seem fairly sturdy BUT the shelves are CHEAP! It is like a sheet of plywood with wood textured plastic wrapped around it. The plastic woodgrain film is literally bubbled and pliable. Don't have too high of expectations if you buy these.

There's no wood surface on the outside. It's veneered with plastic. So cheap. Mdf means something else to some people. Even particle board woulld of been better. I already assembled it so I guess I might have to keep it. Maybe at lower price, might have been worth it.

delivery was quick but they left it outside instead of mail room. for everyone saying it’s metal/well made maybe i got a dud? the support piece is snapped. and now i have to deal with customer service for return. don’t throw away box they make u mail it back

Mom passed away mid September (87 years of celebrating life) and now she's with Jesus celebrating eternal life. This bookcase will provide for our needs well and we're excited.

I love the solid metal parts of this bookshelf, but the shelves leave something to be desired. They feel like plastic. Luckily they are now covered in books, so not much is seen. I think you could always change out the shelves with real wood if you wanted just the value of the frame.

I like the overall look of this bookcase. The color of the wood-style finish is less warm than it appears in the photos, FYI. Mine arrived with few little scratches on the shelves, but luckily you can't tell once they have books on it.
