I bought this on sale for $60 and it struggles to run reading.com's app for teaching kids how to read which isn't a particularly intensive app. When it plays the alphabet song it pauses ~3 times per second making the song choppy.

I am so sorry to hear that you are having issues with it running the specific app that you purchased this device for. One thing you can do to troubleshoot is to see if you have too many apps running in the background taking up some processing power and causing your tablet to run slow. You can do this by tapping the Multitask icon in the lower right of your screen. Here you can swipe up apps that you are not using at the time or swipe all the way over and tap Close All. This should free up some processing power and allow your tablet to run smoother. You can also see if there are any pending updates needed to assist in resolving some concerns. You do this by navigating to Settings>Device Information>Check for Updates. If there are updates pending, it may power cycle once or twice. If none of these tips help, then I would recommend contacting us directly at Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331. Thank you again for your time and feedback and I hope this resolves your issues. First, I recommend making sure that your Fire HD 8 is on the most current software. Go to settings, find and select device options, and then select System Updates and check for updates. I also recommend checking that you don't have other apps running in the background. To close background running apps, click the square at the bottom of the screen and swipe up to close them. I would also recommend going into the app store and making sure that the game is on the latest update. First off, the tablet feels really nice. It is a little heavy but it is an 8" tablet. The quality of the resolution seems really decent. The one down side to this thing IS the camera. However, that is not a killer for me as I don't plan to use it for the camera. The expandable storage space is really nice to have on it. I do wish the tablet wasn't preloaded with so many apps I won't use though. I was able to find apps I want with no problem. I also love that it seamlessly has my Kindle account on here. I JUST got a Kindle for Xmas and while this fire tablet won't replace it, I like that the app is there for me.

It was pretty easy to set up and seems to perform goofed with a long lasting battery. The display is beautiful. Clear and crisp. The camera is placed in an off area but with practice I'm sure it won't be a problem. It feels sturdy but I still put a protective case on it right away. So far it's much easier to use than my cell!

As an avid user of Apple products, I never would have thought to venture out and get an electronic that isn’t Apple, especially one at such a low price. For the price, it is well worth the value. The camera quality is fairly good; actually even better than the webcam on my MacBook. There’s no ads on the Home Screen; I’ve seen some people complain about this, but for me, it is completely ad free. It runs well, at about the same speed as my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Decent speakers and very very easy to use. I highly recommend this for any elderly people in your lives or for children. It’s durable, decent battery life, charges fairly quickly, and does everything a tablet should do: browse the internet, download apps, stream videos, take pictures. It’s a convenient size and safe to say, I LOVE the Fire Tablet!
