Lehman's Hanging Clear Oil Lamp with Top Reflector Steel Metallic Gray 3/4" Wick

Looks good hanging, difficult to light, have to partially dissasemble to light. ,

This is a nice quality antique looking oil lamp. For 30 dollars, it is a bargain, even if used for only decorative purposes. However, this lamp provides only limited light output, just as any oil lamp using a 3/4 inch flat wick. I mention this because a few of the reviews may lead one to think it puts out more light than it does. This lamp's light output falls short of being sufficient for activities such as reading or playing cards. I would estimate light output is similar to half a dozen candles, and no more. A mantle lamp or possibly an extra wide wick (maybe even a double wick lamp) would be a better option for these applications. I am happy with my purchase, I just realize what its performabce limitations are.

I purchased two of these a few years back, and they are lovely. However, the glass globes are very thin glass and very fragile. I ordered a replacement globe but found it to be just a couple of millimeters too large at the top of the chimney; the reflector will not fit over it anymore! I used some tools to bend the reflector opening, to make it bigger, and eventually I enlarged the hole to fit over the chimney. Not pretty – my work really dented up the reflector. Anyhow, I really do love the design of this lamp, so I just ordered two more. Out of the box – on both of the new lamps - the reflector opening is also too small!! I am stunned. Someone has dropped the ball on quality control. I am going to phone a friend with some different tools to try and enlarge the reflector opening more cleanly than what I did myself. But I should not have to do this!

Beautiful lamps that in an emergency can become functional.

The first lamp came in damaged packaging, and was of visibly poor quality. Your customer service was right on top of things, and sent a replacement. The packaging was fine, but the quality of the replacement lamp was poorer than the first one. Again, Lehman’s customer service representative was stellar, addressing this and making sure we reached a satisfactory solution. The supplier is at fault here, and Lehman’s needs to re-consider using this particular manufacturer, if nothing else to protect Lehman’s good name.
