Kinda tight for the size recommended
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do believe your size guide is off. According to the guide, a large is “L = pants 35-36/waste 36-38. I wear a 36 jeans and my waste is 37. A little snug but, not uncomfortable. The shorts are too tight to button at the size 36 I purchased.

Great other than short zipper
These are lightweight, comfortable and well-made, but the zipper is only ~5" long, leaving ~4" down to the crotch seam. Another inch or so on the zipper and these would receive a 5*.

My favorite shorts

Torn in the same place in three pairs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have bought three pairs of these in the past year or year and a half. All of them have torn in the same place, near the zipper whenever I go to sit down. Really disappointed in the quality of them especially since I don’t wear them often. Just bummed in how poorly these have held up.

Except for one GIANT problem
Except for one GIANT problem, these shorts seem great (but aren’t because of the GIANT problem!). Once you wash them once, even if you don’t put them in the dryer (which it says you can do), they WRINKLE WRINKLE AND fabric DISTORT LIKE CRAZY. They are advertised as “ effortless style” — except for the fact that you have to IRON them every time you wash them. Ironing shorts? Sorry, that does not fall into the category of “effortless.” Sorry Columbia, your CEO should have to wear these shorts and iron them everytime. Until he quits wearing them. Did anyone even product test these?

I bought these at the end of last year, I wore them twice, this year I wore them another two times and they split down the seam south of the zipper. I am very unhappy about this, your clothing and jackets are usually so well made.

Terrible
I wear a size 32 waist. These 32 are so tight I can barely button them and they are so thin they are see through. I just found out I have to pay for shipping if I return them. I've always been pleased with Columbia quality until now but this is the last time I will order from them.

Nice Shorts
I bought 4 colors. They are thinner/tropic weight. They have a small coin pocket inside the left pocket. They fit well and are nicely made. I'm happy I ordered them. They are perfect for the hottest part of the summer. Also, the wash well and dry quickly.

Great, but….
