Q: Is that if you already have the game but nit the switch 2 version?

submitted by Idk - 1 year ago

  • A: This is the upgrade pack for the switch 1 version of the game. The Nintendo Switch 2 Version comes with this pre-installed in the game.

submitted bySimon - 10 months ago

  • A: Hi Idk, thanks for reaching out aboutThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Upgrade Pack - Nintendo Switch 2 (Digital). As of today, June 17, 2025: "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" was released exclusively for the original Nintendo Switch console. There has been no official announcement from Nintendo about a specific "Nintendo Switch 2 version" of Tears of the Kingdom. "Upgrade Pack": The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom did not receive any downloadable content (DLC) or an "Expansion Pass" like its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, did. Nintendo has stated that Tears of the Kingdom is a complete experience on its own and no DLC is planned. Nintendo Switch 2: The Nintendo Switch 2 console has been announced, but it is not yet widely available in the market. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Can I play this game on Nintendo Switch OLEO?

submitted by Sykeven - 1 year ago

  • A: Yes, But No. To play the full "Nintendo Switch 2" version, you need to use it on switch 2. But, using it on oled WILL work, but it will just be the original version of the game. So, if you have no plans to upgrade to Switch 2, get the original. If you do have plans to upgrade, I still recommend the original and then the upgrade pack once you get the Switch 2, because I don't know what happens if you put it in a Switch before putting it into a Switch 2. It is the same price for the original game + upgrade pack vs the Switch 2 edition game cartridge.

  • A: Hi Sykeven, thanks for reaching out about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition This version of the game can only be played on the newly released Nintendo Switch 2 console. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: So is there a Switch 1 game card or a Switch 2 game card in the box? While this is advertised as a Switch 2 offering, the fine print seems to indicate a Switch 1 game card is included.

submitted by SqRz96 - 2 years ago

  • A: Hi SqRz96, thanks for reaching out about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition It is looking that for at least some games that came out on the Switch, such as this game, the physical box will include the Switch 1 game and a code for an upgrade pack to upgrade to the Switch 2 version. Such an amazing purchase!

I ordered this as a digital download, and I waited maybe thirty seconds before the download code was emailed to me. I love this game so much and I just got a Switch 2, so I decided to make the purchase, and I'm so glad I did! The game runs so smoothly on the Switch 2! The graphics and frame rates are gorgeous, and the loading time is super quick. Playing it again is just as enjoyable as it was playing for the first time. Will be purchasing digital downloads from Target again.

Does Not Include Full Game on Cartridge

I purchased the physical version of the Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition hoping to get the full game with Switch 2 upgrade on cartridge without needing a download. Unfortunately, you can't even boot up the physical version without downloading an update. The update is free, but still, the physical version is incomplete and completely unplayable without an internet connection. At that point, it is better to just download the upgrade, even if you're a diehard physical collector like myself.

CA$H GRAB

CA$H GRAB. I was honestly not impressed at all after upgrading, as it's marginally better. Back when I purchased my PS4 Pro, EVERY game looked better; even the desktop looked great. Now, nintendo is MILKING their customes for every last dollar that they can get out of them. Just shameful. But in 2025 nintendo has no shame.

Fly High in 4K

The sequel to the critically acclaimed Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom took what made the previous game good, and added to it, but with much more freedom. This game looks incredible on the Switch 2 and I have not experienced a single issue. That said- If you own the Switch 1 cart, I do not recommend this. Yes, it comes with the full game and upgrade, but you can save money and just spend $10 for the upgrade. I only recommend this cart for new players.
