Q: do you need to use place mats or some sort of protection to prevent discoloration from hot plates??

A: It is recommended to treat the surface of the table with care, it is resistant to scratches but is not scratch resistant. That being said, place mats are a good scratch/discoloration prevention method.

Yellow in color and delivered broken
The table base delivered broken. The top of the table had a white film in spots and the color was a yellow color. Nothing at all like the pictures on the website. Totally disappointed.

Chips and Cheap.
The tabletop's stain quickly chips away despite using placemats and mostly plastic drinks (not glass which would be harder on the table). Also, the small detail lines collect crumbs, salt, etc and makes it always looks dirty. I really regret buying this table.

Beautiful style, but rough texture -- not practical
This table is really beautiful and the perfect style. Unfortunately, I can only give it three stars for a couple of reasons. The first is that the color is quite different in person and not nearly as attractive. I ordered the "vintage pine" and it has a very yellowed look to it, with even a faint greenish hugh. It looks like a cooler, more natural wood tone in the photos. Second, the texture of the table top is very rough. One spill on this table and you'll be cleaning it with a toothbrush to try to get food out of all the tiny grooves. This isn't apparent in the photos, and I don't know why anyone would make a table intended for eating have so much texture. The description says "distressed," but this is far beyond that. I also can't tell whether it has any sort of protective sealant on it and haven't been able to get an answer from the company. I'd add one myself but they say that they don't recommend it. So, even though the style and size are perfect, we're going to return this.

Could have worked but damaged.
Edge of table top was damaged upon arrival, so I returned it....well, I’ve been trying to return it since last Thursday. The base was finally picked up after several calls & emails to Target and UPS, but no one has come back for the top. Otherwise, the color, size and heftiness would have been great. My main goal was solid wood at an affordable price. I got this on Black Friday for less than $700 so there’s that. I’m still not positive there wasn’t a veneer on the table top, thus, the damage could have more easily occurred. Undecided if I would recommend it.

Perfect For Our Family
The table is stunning and easy to put together but I’d recommend two people. I’ve been looking for weeks for a round table with a farmhouse yet could be slightly modernized. I like that I can have 6 chairs there if needed. The chairs are from Target as well. The gray washed x back chairs truly make it a bit more modernized.

Beautiful and easy setup
Beautiful, well built table! It was insanely easy to setup. Took me 5 minutes and it was done. Love to gloom. Will last us many years ahead. Color is slightly darker than image, but still beautiful. Only thing that could be better is price... but you won’t find one any cheaper brand new I don’t think. I looked for a while.
