Sauder Shoal Creek Lift Top Desk Jamocha Wood : Mid-Century Modern Office Furniture, Paper Veneer Surface

Bought this desk for my home office. Easily took 7+hours to put together and the further along I got I found more and more things wrong with it. Desk is made of press board and has an extremely thin finish over it, almost like a very thin paper. There were so many scratches on the pieces as I pulled them out of the box, along with a few corners that were dented. If I hadnt had half the desk put together already I would have returned the item. (As it is this is a replacement for the first one I ordered) I will be curious to see how the surface wears after a few weeks of being used. Looks good from a distance. I like the color and hardware, just wish the overall quality was a little better. Especially since item wasnt that cheap.

It is a beautiful desk that is ideal for my hybrid work situation and I really like it! I do like all of the space and storage this desk provides while maintaining an elegant, low profile in my living room. One reason why this is not getting 5 stars is because the adjustable desk top does not evenly align with the stationary desk top. Usually this would bother me but given all the several hours I put into building this, I do not care. Additionally, when bringing this desk to a standing desk position, the screws on the right side of the mechanism scrape against the inside of the desk, leaving 2 long deep wooden scrapes along the inside on the right. Not the biggest deal since you cannot see the scrapes on the inside except when it is at standing height and the misalignment is merely a centimeter or two but for the time, effort, and money spent it should be perfectly aligned.

Everything went together great. All pieces there. No alignment issues. Extremely nice for the price plus the lift functionality is stable.

I like the size of the desk. However, as we were putting it together, it got easily scratched. I just hope it can last me a good time, we will see.

Desk looks and. functions great!

The only standing desk I've used before involved a clunky unit on top of my work desk -- great when standing, but in the way when seated. This desk solves that in spades. Other than a very small gap between the sections, it's just a regular desk. And then, presto, part of the desk lifts up and I'm standing! It's a great design. I've been using it for a couple of months now in my home office (thanks COVID) and have already recommended it to friends who are in the same boat. Putting it together took some commitment, but whoever wrote the instructions has a great sense of humor. I really appreciated the laughs along the way. I definitely felt a sense of accomplishment when I got to the finish line. Thank you, Sauder, for exceeding my expectations.

Just took several hours to put together but the directions were excellent. The desk is just the right size. In addition, the ability to stand or sit has tremendously helped my back already. Thanks for the good work!

I love that this desk has a traditional feel but allows me to have the sit to stand feature.

This desk is great overall, especially the price for a convertible standing desk. Just a few things to note: I am a perfectionist when it comes to assembling things and when complete, the surface piece of the standing desk did not line up with the other side when down. I had to remove the metal pieces underneath and glue them back on with gorilla glue in the proper place and then screw in over top. That was really inconvenient. There were also a few places where 2 pieces didn't line up exactly, thus showing the unfinished wood. For that, I wish they would include a wood finish color to spot touch those areas. All in all, satisfied with the finished product!

After months of working from home, I decided to get myself set up properly. At work, I had a standing desk that sat on top of my executive-style desk. I always found that unit cumbersome, with the base of it in the way while I was seated. I've seen desks that raise and lower, but they've always been expensive. I was surprised to find this desk at such a low price. I find that having only 2/3 of the desk lift up is useful design. I have a scanner and speaker on the stationary part and was glad not to have to deal with extending those cables to standing height. I found the instructions easy to follow, and actually pretty amusing. Someone at Sauder has a great sense of humor. Already, I've recommended the desk to colleagues and friends. Thank you, Sauder, for providing such an affordable, stylish, highly functional desk. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

This desk has made the COVID-19 pandemic working from home situation more enjoyable.
