Don't Don't It!!
Thought it was just me...obviously not. My brand new microwave at 1200 w for 15 minutes forc2 servings was still not enough. 20? Nope. All the water evaporates and eventually it does get softer but still pretty hard. It's so not worth it to buy cheap for thus, and I almost exclusively buy whatever us ob sale, etc. Not with this.

Water is not the only option
I guess I got a good box? Don't understand the complaints. Measure your water that's apropriate for the rice, 1:1 ratio. For better flavor, use chicken broth instead of water. Bring to a boil. Throw in the rice, get it back to a boil then reduce to medium heat. Let it be uncovered for a few minutes since it will still be boiling while the temp cools down. Cover the pot when it starts simmering. stir a few times. After 8-10 minutes, you can let it stand off the heat if you want to. Stays in the fridge pretty well for a few days. Also if you choose to use olive oil to avoid being dry, it will taste weird if you let it sit in the fridge like that. I think the fat in the broth will help it not be so dry

perfect for hiking or for frying in oils for crisps rice. is good for a quick soak meal, add room temperature or hot water let sit for soaking then heat for a few minutes to soften the grains either in a microwave or on the stove is good for fried rice.

This is not instant rice.
This is not instant rice. Instant rice implies that it should only take a couple of minutes to cook and absorb water. This is straight-up brown rice. When you look at the directions on the box, it is the same directions for cooking regular brown rice. This is just plain brown rice.

Brown rice that actually tastes good
I've tried making regular brown rice but it's never turned out well. This stuff actually has a good texture and is fluffy, not to mention it tasted great. I will say that you do need to cook it a few minutes longer than what the directions say for all the moisture to be absorbed.
