Q: How about the chemical smell on finished painting? Is it very strong?

A: The product is made of laminated composite woods (particleboard, MDF), so there is no painting.

Q: I bought this item and am unsure how to make this work with my bed frame, mattress, and box spring as it's not tall enough. Can I attach it to the frame? Or should I attach it to the wall?

A: The headboard is stand-alone unit you don't need to attach to the bed.

Q: Does the frame once built just set up around the bed? Does the bed need moved and then pushed up against the headboard? My bed is extremely heavy so I'm hoping the headboard just gets set "over" it.

A: The headboard will stand at the end of the bed. Yes, the bed will push up against it. You will need at least 12" clearance at the head of the bed

Q: plan to use this with a full size mattress - centered across headboard, how much "headboard" would be visible on either side? I see it's freestanding, given that it also fits a queen size mattress, would i be able to attach it to a full size bedframe?

A: You would have 5" visible on each side. Yes, you could attach it to a full-size bedframe. But as you noted, it is freestanding so it will work without actually attaching them together

A: The headboard is freestanding so it will work without being attached. However, if you want to attach It to a bedframe you will have to drill holes and obtain hardware.

Assembly
The only problem with this frame is the assembly. On the instructions they label each piece by letter and number, but they don't label the actual pieces! So matching the pictures are a must, which can be confusing for some people.

Easy to Assemble. All holes were pre drilled so it made it super easy. Took about 35 minutes to construct. Only complaint is it doesn’t have anything to bolt it to the bedframe or wall to make it more secure. Decent for the price and perfect for my 11 yr olds room.

I ordered this for my daughters FULL sized bed. It is way too big and the edges stick out so far that she is not able to have her mattress against the wall. Would recommend only for a QUEEN unless you want a huge headboard on a full bed.

You get what you pay for
I had high hopes for this but I should've known better. Luckily my husband put it together & although he's an Engineer he even found the instruction manual to be very poor. This is a VERY cheap piece of furniture all made of pressed particle board. It doesn't seem very sturdy at all & I could see us having to replace it within just a few years, if we're lucky. What really bothered me was the VERY strong odor that it gave off for the first few days. I'll admit that I am sensitive when it comes to "smells" but I definitely had to open the bedroom window b/c the odor was so strong it literally gave me a headache! It does look good in our daughters room, but overall I am disappointed. If I could do things over again I would spend more money on a higher quality headboard.

Great product
I've built many pieces of furniture and have a process. I check all pieces, read instructions thoroughly before I start. Instructions were great, the mdf parts were strong and attachment holes easy to find. Only negative was the board pieces were not marked so I marked them in the center using the building instruction and matched the board to their number. Took about 45 min. to build using manual tools and can be done by one person easily.

Inexpensive Cute Headboard
My 10 year old daughter picked out this headboard. For the price, I could not resist. It is heavy, sturdy and easy to put together. We are very happy with this purchase.

Received chipped board, and this is heavy to return
I was excited to try this, but as soon as I opened the box, the top board was chipped along two different edges. Since this is the most visible piece --- the one piece of particle board that everyone will see, since it goes across the top part of the headboard --- I didn't want to start out with a less-than-great headboard. Plus this is not the best quality for the buck. It is just particle board, and edges are a little rough and need sanding.

Monterey Bookcase Headboard
The headboard is well worth the money. It offers plenty of space to put materials for reading, etc. and is designed to be used by adults as well as children. Compared to other headboards from nearby stores, this product out shines them all due to the affordable price. It was easy to put together, will be used with Target's Platform Bed Frame, and Memory Foam Mattress. What a great combination!
