Granulated Sugar - 4lbs - Good & Gather™

I am angry. I needed to use my sugar and it’s a rock hard block.

Sugar does not carmalize properly, completely becomes paste. 3 cups ruined trying to make caramel sauce for flan!

My one bag of sugar is broken and scattered inside the box. why this time no plastic bag to make the item safe .

It is rock hard! Tried to hit it and it’s still rock hard. No openings in the bag. I’d like a refund .

I have to admit, I am a lot like my grandmother in that I use store brands with many things, except when it comes to my baking standards. This time, since I was having my Target items delivered, which I recommend, I decided to try their store brand, Good & Gather. Surprisingly, when the sugar arrived, it was well sealed. The package was not leaking sugar at all. I opened it to transfer it into my canister and was delighted. The sugar was white, clean, and the granules were what I expected. I tasted a bit and the sugar was as pure as could be. I've had others that seemed to be what my grandmother used to call “dirty”. I can't explain it any other way. Good & Gather Sugar was clean, white, pure, with granules at the right size, not too coarse, nor too refined. And, for those of us who grew up learning to bake at the aprons of our ancestors, we watch every smidgen that comes out of those sugar and flour bags, especially since the big companies have cut bag a whole pound on each. We want our packages tightly packed and sealed. No one wants to pay for even 1/4 cup left behind on the shelf due to leaky packages. This is not a problem with good & Gather. Just as my former favorite national brand, the bag was double layered. I will keep buying Good & Gathered.
