A: It is not recommended for microwave use. High settings and extended periods in the microwave could cause the glass to crack like most glasses.

Q: Why can't these glasses be washed in a dishwasher?

Not dishwasher safe, which is unclear on the listing. Overtime if you wash in dishwasher the color film WILL come off and they will turn almost-but-not-quite clear.
