It does not need to be cleaned from this area if using one of our disposable trays; this area remains covered, and this waste would be disposed of when the tray is thrown away. Most one cat homes change their tray at around 30 days. If using our reusable tray, rather than disposing of the tray you would empty the tray into a garbage bag, clean and dry the tray, then place new litter in the tray.
