Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Horrible fit

All bottoms run at least 2 sizes to big and the button down blouses are at least 2 sizes to small. Ugh!!! This has been horrible-so much money spent

Poorly made clothes

Poorly made clothes, sizing is way off and fits awkward. G is tall and thin and everything looks great on her But the fit of these clothes is awful. These shirt ran about 3 sizes smaller than the tag size.

We have purchased French Toast uniforms for our girls from kindergarten to high school. Great quality, cute designs and I know French Toast uniforms are created for the log haul. Fits true to size

Great Fit!

This shirt was a perfect fit for my daughter who wears plus sizes. I was thrilled!!! Not all front button closure shirts fit well but this one was amazing! Washes up so nicely as well.

Nice, feminine fit, but very small

Princess cut seams are exactly what we were looking for. The standard oxford shirts are boxy and too much material to tuck in. This sizing runs VERY small - I followed the size chart, but the numbers don't align across the board. I have 12 yr old healthy, athletic twins; they're 5'4"" and fit, not obese. The size 18s weren't even close to fitting. I'm returning the 18s for size 20.5 (plus sizing- possibly a reason why girls get the wrong body image message). Finding girls elementary uniform blouses that aren't BOXY and overly expensive is nearly impossible, so I'm grateful that French Toast actually has the style/cut available.

Nice fit

Fits perfectly. My daughter is quite petite for her age so most things are too loose on her. The material is a little thinner than I was expecting it to be though.

Uniform Shirts

It can be a challenge to get uniform shirts that fit & don't cost too much. These were perfect! Will probably be ordering a couple more for reserve....you know...white shirts always get a stain!

Very cute and quality seems good.

The cut of the blouse looks adorable on my daughter. I would suggest ordering a size up. My daughter is a 12 and I got the 14, it fits perfectly so I'm thankful I decided to order a size larger.

Great fit

My 14-year-old loved the cut and the sleeves on this shirt. The sleeves are a bit longer than the ruched-sleeve options on the market. It's a thicker material which is appreciated as well.

Great blouse but usually out of stock in the size 8

This is a great quality blouse and i love the fit. However, the regular blue in size 8 is always sold out. My twin girls are in 2nd grade & stain their shirts often. Sometimes i can't get the stains out & have to order a few more blouses. I'm washing every two days until this size is back in stock...!

short sleeve oxford customer

The short sleeve oxford fit nicely and had a flattering fit. For a 32 bust we got her a size 20 since last year the 18 had to be taped. So thankful to have found a fitted oxford so she doesn't look like a box.
