Read this to understand other reviews. The table is very solid and nicely constructed. Unlike what reviews claim, it does appear to be solid wood. What it isn't is stained wood. It is a faux painted wood grain that many companies are using in design. This is a painted piece. The pictures are deceiving. It does not look like the pictures. It is still a very nice piece of furniture. I like the design and size of it. Only attach three legs then secure the shelf with 4th leg and tighten everything up. The package was damaged and there was just the slightest damage to the top but no reason to return it. I wish I could say I love this piece but I don't. I don't like the painted faux wood look and have found that the wood beneath isn't worth stripping and staining. I gave it 5 stars because it is a quality piece and has a pretty finish on it. However, my preference is that it be stained and look more like real wood. It doesn't look plastic or cheap. It's just obviously painted which is what I believe some people mean in their reviews. The paint is very nicely done. It's a pretty piece of furniture. Again, I preferred a stained wood piece over a faux wood paint application. I hope this helps others.

Easy assembly, perfect size, but substandard fake top
Assembly easy! Turned spindle legs wonderful. Item ‘wood’ on top and shelf is awful. Thankfully, I have it against a south-facing window where the sun would damage real wood. Not this piece! Thankfully. I have the top covered with pix frames, decor, and stereo system. Net: you can’t really see the top. Size is perfect, so it works.

Solid & pretty console table
This was relatively easy to assemble- I did it myself (woman in her 50’s). I actually stained it with a cherry stain to match my cabinets. I love it!

Nice design but looks cheap
It's heavy but very easy to assemble. As someone mentioned in another review, only put three of the legs on before the bottom shelf. 3 stars because it doesn't quite look like the pictures. The "wood" looks lighter, very cheap and not at all like real wood. Doesn't seem like quality matches the price point.

Walnut wood side table
It’s too heavy. We want to take it upstairs but it’s too heavy. The quality of the wood is good.

Very Nice Piece!
Really pretty piece and went together pretty easily. It's very heavy and the braided legs are gorgeous. Using a console table in my entry and added the Studio McGee ceramic lamp also. Tip: Put three legs on only before attaching bottom shelf and then put the 4th one on. Not sure how I would have gotten it in otherwise.
