Smart scale functionality is good but the app experience isn’t as good as some standalone scales that I have had.
It weighed on me

It is a grand scale! Setup was easy and using it is pretty much tap and go. Nice to have additional info to go with my Garmin watch stats.

Assuming you’re buying this scale for more than just weight checking and you’re somewhat active, the pairing of your Garmin watch with the scale leads to much more accurate measurements. Considering you can add Dexa fat percentage for scale calibration makes it a very good choice. I personally am very happy with the scale options and how it works.
Not accurate

Scale is off by quite a bit on body fat % and weight. I figured going into this the body fat% would be off but not the weight. Only reason I bought this is due to the garmin app recommending it for more accurate overall health stats. Do not buy this piece of junk. And do not like that Garmin basically makes you buy this to assist in heath data.
Body fat is hilariously wrong

It says I’m 22.9% body fat. My abs are visible so this is highly unlikely.
Okay, interface improvements from the old one.

Howver, switching between scales the body fat % is fluctuating by ~3 to 4%. And within the day it can be 2%, with same body weight. Bad, not what one would expect with "improved" sensors and software.

Bought this to integrate with my garmin connect app. Slow to weigh and seems off. You get more information and quicker response time with renpho at 1/3 the cost

Bought this hoping it would be a great tool but it's more of a Hassel. The scale gets our profiles wrong. For the amount that I paid it should work properly.. now it just sits on my floor doing nothing.. USELESS!!!
Inaccurate Weight and Body Fat Readings
1 out of 5 stars
Howie D - 11 days ago

The Garmin Index S2 has a clean design and syncs well with Garmin Connect, but the accuracy is a real issue. Compared to a recent DEXA scan, the scale was off by 5 pounds in weight and more than 5% in body fat. There's no way to calibrate or adjust these numbers, which makes it hard to trust the data. If you're just looking to monitor general trends over time, it might do the job. But if you're serious about tracking accurate body composition, especially compared to clinical-grade tools like DEXA, this scale falls short.

I have had Garmin watches for 20+ years and love them. Not so much the scale or blood pressure cup. Scale was difficult to pair with and still haven’t been able to pair the blood pressure cup. Scale is erratic. My regular scale going down every day, but this one climbs, then drops. Never an accurate reading.

I got through the horrendous user experience to add the app, add a Wi-Fi connection then add a device (scale). I’ve been using successfully for several years. Just tried to add my wife. For some strange reason, I need to add her to my Garmin account before I can invite her into the scale. Just an awful user experience. Now, though, when she steps on the scale, it thinks it’s me and vice versa. Awful.

I have been pretty frustrated with the scale- i thought it knew who i was based on watch i was wearing. anyway my wife got pregnant and when her weight got close to mine it essentially thinks i am her or vice versa (even though she has subsequently lost weight and i have gone in and deleted her more recent higher values). I have tried to reset multiple times. I am very disappointed in the scale especially for the cost.
Great Scale, BUT...

Great scale which is easy to set up and use, except for very poor bio metric readings. This is a replacement scale for me so I have reference to readings from my predecessor scale. Although weight is correct, the other readings are less so, particularly body fat percentage. This is not a vanity issue. Body fat percentage is about 10 points higher than the previous scale which I had independently determined to have been fairly accurate. Because of this, other health measurement results in Garmin Connect are skewed incorrectly. This is very disappointing and adversely affects the reason for having such a sale..

After initial setup which appeared to go smoothly it kept restarting. I did a factory reset, it kept restarting. I did a firmware update and it kept restarting. It kept going from blue triangle screen to a weight screen and then to a black screen and then start over with the blue triangle. I did manage to capture my weight while on the weight screen but even that seemed awkward with the first digit on the display being messed up.
