Amazing chips!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are one of the best tortilla chips I've ever bought! Bought 6 bags and will definitely by again!

They were my favorite, now a trash chip
I’m sure UTZ is full of really smart people who know their business, but an intern must have taken the wheel for On the Border tortilla chips. They were the best and differentiated in taste and texture. They have certainly changed and there’s no way a focus group of loyal consumers were considered. Would know where to find a brand similar to the original.

Change it back
UTZ you have screwed up the manufacturing big time! Loved these chips for years but recently noticed a change in texture and flavor. Then found out UTZ is now making these and they are trash.

Chips were smashed in between the jars and were crushed! Didn’t realize these were going to be shipped until the order was placed. Don’t ever have chips shipped!!

Our household favorite tortilla chips from Target
It is thin but not too thin. The salty level is right with the occasional extra salty chip or two in the bag. Overall, a family staple. My only minor complaint is not their fault: the party size used to come in 16 ounces, but I’ll take an ounce less for the same price because the quality is still solid.

Quality way down
I have been buying On The Border cafe style chips for a very long time and since the new Company Utz Quality Foods,LLC has taken over they changed the ingredients, the chips taste like garbage!!!! Time to find another brand.

They have declined
I have routinely been buying On The Border Cafe Style tortilla chips to the exclusion of any others. However, the last two bags I purchased have been different. They used to be so light and crispy but now they are like most other tortilla chips; average at best.

Want bags of crushed chips? Order from Target!
EVERY bag ordered was crushed and contained more crumbs than chips. This is ridiculous. Want bags of crushed chips? Order from Target!

Utz ruined these once perfect chips
I used to LOVE On The Border chips — they were my absolute favorite. Light, crispy, smooth, with just the right amount of salt and flavor. Perfect for snacking or dipping. Sadly, ever since Utz took over, these chips are unrecognizable. Now they’re thick, gritty, and tasteless. The delicate crunch is gone, replaced by something closer to stale cardboard than a tortilla chip. I actually like a lot of Utz snacks. But this? This is a complete downgrade. You took something great and destroyed it. I’ll never buy these again, and I definitely won’t recommend them to anyone. If you loved the original On The Border chips, prepare to be seriously disappointed. 😪

Utz Changed the Recipe and I'll Be Switching to Another Brand
We noticed in July 2025 that On The Border tortilla chips, which long were distinctively the best around, changed in quality and investigating the package, we see they are now produced by Utz in PA, not the previous manufacturer in Texas. The recipe/process has clearly changed - they are no longer light and crispy with occasional pockets of air and a great corn taste; now they have a tougher texture, taste more like corn meal, and are utterly mediocre. We will be testing and switching to another brand. Utz, you ruined a remarkable tortilla chip and for doing so, we will no longer be purchasing Utz pretzels or any other Utz snack foods.

NO TASTE after changing the recipe/how they are made!!
I have bought TONS of this chip over the years. I always have 3-4 bags in my cabinet at a time. Now, they have NOTICABLY changed the way they are made and they went from being the best tortilla chip ever to the absolute WORST! They are completely tasteless now, very much resembling cardstock with no salt! I can't believe they would do this and clearly did it on the sly hoping consumers wouldn't notice because there was no mention of said change on the packaging. I will never buy these again unless they change them back to the way they were. By then, we will all have found a new replacement. They don't even deserve a one star...

Recipie changed
These changed. These used to be the only tortilla chips we would buy. Now they are grainy, have a different texture, and just don't taste the same. Unfortunately, we will be switching brands.

Good
Chips are good, but the bag is enormous and 1/4 full. Companies need to stop with this.

Crushed
First time ordering delivery. Very convenient and really like these chips but arrived at bottom of box, crushed. Still good for a casserole topping.

Tastes reconstituted
It's like a reconstituted puree of a corn chip shaped into a crispy triangle. If I wanted a baby-food type of product I wouldn't want it as a tortilla chip but that's what this reminded me of.

Broken
When I received this part of my order all the chips were in pieces. Was not happy. If you could replace them would be appreciated.

Another one bites the dust...
Wow. Used to be my favorite go-to tortilla chip, now it's pretty pitiful. The most recent review on here is from a year ago... The recipe has def changed--chip is now thin and brittle w/ less (corn) taste, more salt. I won't be wasting my money on this product anymore...SAD.

Please back to the old recipe
I've been buying the Cafe and Thin Styles for years but the last two bags I bought have tasted different. After doing some searching, I see that the recipe has changed. These chips were my "go-to" because they tasted fresher than the other brands. They no longer have this quality. Please revert the recipe back so I can be a customer again.

Terrible
Why anyone would take the best tasting chip on the market and change the recipe is beyond me. Just threw out two bags of what used to be my favorite chips.
