With four cubbies and four display shelves, the Danya B. Cubby Chessboard Shelf - Black is perfect for displaying picture frames, plants, books, collectibles and more. Combine this shelf with the Danya B White Cubby Chessboard Shelf to complete the chessboard look and heighten visual interest. This floating shelving unit can hang both vertically and horizontally. If you hang it vertical, the dimension are: 15.25 inches long x 30 inches high x 5.75 inches deep. Each cubby is 6 1/8 inches wide x 6 5/8 inches high x 5.75 inches deep. A: Unfortunately you can not hang it on the reverse side as is no finish. But you can hang it horizontally or vertically depending on your preference.

Items arrived in poor packaging. Very dirty with styro pcs attached to it. I planning to clean it because I don’t want the hassle to return it but I found out hardware installation are missing also. Found some dents/cracks as well.

This is easy to assemble and works well for smaller display items, BUT a word of warning... don't over screw the Allen wrench screws as the board will audibly crack. Also, make sure you leave enough head space on the screws you are mounting on, or the board will spliter when you try to knock it in place. I may need a replacement as a result, which is unfortunate.

I really like the design, and I thought the instructions were fairly straightforward to follow. Additionally, so far, the shelves are also quite sturdy. However, the cubbies are substantially smaller than I thought they would be. Ideally, I wanted to use this as a decorative bookshelf; however, the boxes are too small for the size of a standard book - I can only store some books between the cubby boxes, as well as on top of the cubby boxes.
