Q: I would like to hang this lantern in the tree in my backyard. Does it need to be in direct sunlight to charge or can it be in some shade?

A: Hi Caroline, thank you for your question! As long as the solar lantern gets some sunlight during the day (around 4-5 hours) hanging on the tree, it should still have enough charge to last through the night. While we recommend placing the light in direct sunlight for optimal results, we also designed our solar panels to allow for more versatility. The solar panels charge based on UV rays, meaning that they will continue to charge even on cloudy days without direct sun. Great Solar Lantern
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this lantern and it has been difficult to charge it with all the rain we've had lately.but I managed to charge it a little. This lantern is perfect for the patio, we use it on ours, emits just enough light to see. Has 2 settings one for white lighting and warm lighting, both work nicely. Has a ring on the top to hang it where ever you'd like, or can just set it on the table. The door and side panels are made of a durable plastic. Can set a something nice inside for display. Seems to be well made. I will recommend.

Beautiful Lantern
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE this solar-powered lantern. It's hanging at the edge of my patio roof, so it gets full sun all day. But the magic happens at night, when the lantern casts a beautiful glow. I have also had guests comment on its beauty.

Nice Little Lantern
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The lantern looks good- not super bright, so if you want to have an area well lit, you’ll need a few of these. Also since the light comes from the top, I can put decorative things in it- although I like it with nothing inside. Being solar powered, I like that I don’t have to think about it- it stays off until it gets dark out then automatically turns on. Very happy with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Techko solar lantern is a fantastic addition to anyone’s backyard area patio or front porch. The lantern produces a really nice amber and white light whatever choice you would like. It Produces a strong solid light and is very easy to charge each day for night use. I used it as additional lighting for my backyard patio area and it was a wonderful lighting quality for the area.
