A: Hello. If one bulb burns out the rest of the string will initially stay lit. However, a burned out bulb should be replaced as soon as you can. As bulbs burn out, and if not replaced, the remaining bulbs take up the extra power and burn out quickly, causing the set/circuit to fail quickly. A: Thank you for your interest in this product. The lights themselves are not designed to dim, but you may run them on a dimmer socket purchased separately. FYI, you may also notice a slight glow with your lights even though the lights are off. This happens because a small amount of electricity to power the dimmer/timer is allowing electricity to the lights, causing them to illuminate a small amount of light.
