The volume, number of reeds used, length and diameter of reeds are some that would affect the duration. Environmental factors such as ambient temperature and humidity also play a part. I adore the smell which for me smells like Catholic Church incense. Yes, it isn't potent but I do catch whiffs of it throughout the day. I have had to rid myself of other too potent reed fragrances which were so powerful that I couldn't stand smelling them. It has the best smell of any reed fragrances that I have ever purchased.

Nearly impossible to open, faint scent. In a small powder room, with door closed and flipped reeds, it was still barely detectable. Beautiful packaging and I think the black reeds are elegant and modern. The $10 price point was appreciated but the "get what you pay for" adage is remarkably true for this product.
