LAVA 14.5" Iridescent Chrome Novelty Table Lamp: Hand-Painted, Electric Wax Motion Light for Teens

If you want a lava lamp, do not waste your money on this one - better yet, do not purchase any lava lamp at Target. I bought this lamp on 11/08/2025 and already it doesn’t function like a lava lamp. The gel inside the glass has coagulated and does not separate like a lava lamp is supposed to. It’s disappointing and I’ve wasted $25, do not do the same.

Was great for about two months, then started to have problems. It’s cloudy and there’s a sludge of lava down the side. It has not been working as intended for months. I guess it’s trash now.

Very cute! My girls loved it but it only worked for 3 months.

the wax never flowed. had it running for 12 hours, turned it off, turned it back on, let it go for another 12 hours. did this several times and nothing. just sitting as a lump at the bottom.

it works perfectly fine, however, the water is so cloudy that you can hardly see the wax as it "lavas." the wax is white and the liquid is purple, so the wax "looks" pink, but you can hardly see it.

I followed all of the directions and it doesn’t work. I hoped that I just got a faulty lamp and I returned it for another one. The second lamp doesn’t work either. They both worked for one day and that was it.

Its something that reminded me of my childhood. So bought it as a gift for a tiny artist.

Came in crystal clear with no imperfections and ready to run, nothing is missing, everything is with it, just like the other one I grabbed, i cannot wait to set this one up and get it running as well!! and i really love the polychromatic base and crap, it feels nice, not cheap!

The base is as pictured. the lava (wax) seems to lava well. The color is a bit more red than the violet pictured and I'm okay with that as monitors vary and color is somewhat subjective. The water is medium-level cloudy. I noticed it in some of the photos and hoped that it would not be too bad, but sadly it is. I do not recommend this particular model for a lava lamp (lite). Others by same manufacturer are better.

Please be advised that people may have tampered with the product. I bought this lamp and someone had opened it and another glitter lamp up and took the lava lamp glass out of this one and placed the glitter lamp glass in its place. It is no longer a lava lamp and I have to return it.

Stopped working after less than 6 months of infrequent use. The lightbulb works but the wax does nothing. Additionally, the coil from the bottom also free floats now. Would not recommend.

What an amazing lava lamp! It takes time to warm up and start moving, but it is well worth the wait. It never disappoints. I love watching it while relaxing after a long day.

AWESOME base! The globe on this one was cloudy, so I exchanged it in the store for a new one which was clear. Might be one of my favorite color combinations even if it's a bit more subtle than other lava lamps. This lamp has purple fluid and white wax. It's OK to ask the cashier to look inside the package at checkout to be sure you have one that's not cloudy.

Yall. I just ordered my 4th one for pick up (after reading this you would’ve thought i’ve learned my lesson by now but I digress) and I am praying to the lava gods this one works. The past 3 have not worked. I’ve owned lava lamps since I was a kid and I am fully aware you are supposed to leave it on and still for up to 8 hours for the lava to fully melt for the first time. I did that with all 3 and not a single one flowed like lava in a lava lamp should. It looked chunky and terrible. What’s ironic is I bought 3 and none worked and then my sister bought the same one and it works perfectly. I guess you just have to be blessed by the lava gods when you pick out your box. Choose wisely, or don’t at all lol. If this one does not work (first I will return it) but I will literally be so convinced that the world just doesn’t want me to enjoy a cool light fixture like this. In all seriousness though, do not buy. Not worth it. Go buy a nicer one from Amazon.

I was SO excited when I saw this in the store but now I’m wishing I read the reviews before buying. The liquid inside is SO cloudy. I decided to bring it to the store and exchange for a different one but same issue. It’s been plugged in for HOURS and you can barely make out the “lava” moving in there, which barely even moves at all. I’m letting it cool and then restarting as suggested in the pamphlet included but if that doesn’t help I’m returning it. So sad, if it actually looked like the photo on the box it would have been so cool *cries*

We gave it a full 24 hours plugged in, and although it’s had plenty of time to heat the wax, it has stayed in a weird stiff formation and never fully melted.
