Q: It looks like some of the eyes only have 1 cutter. Do they cut from both sides? If so do they get damaged, misshapen or dull hammering them?

A: They only cut from one side. It includes eyes for both sides, though. We’ve done 4 pumpkins and nothing has gotten bent or dull yet.

We suggest consumer to use the sharper side(without folded) to punch on a pumpkin. Using the other side may cut through the pumpkin but is not as effective and will dull faster. These worked way better that I thought they would. you need to hit them pretty hard but once you break through a little bit, it was smooth sailing. my toddler was even able to hammer it deeper. The only thing I would suggest is using a bigger/heavier mallet than what comes in the kit, but we were still able to use what was included with great results!

Perfect for smaller kids
My kids are not quite old enough to carve pumpkins and still need a lot of assistance/parents doing it for them. These are a great solution for younger kids! Each cutout feels fairly substantial and come with a little mallet. Also, whoever put the little paper guide at the bottom of the box to show you how to fit the cutters back in for storage deserve a raise.

This makes carving with littles so much easier! Love the cookie cutter shapes and it even comes with a baby mallet. It gives the kids a way they can carve the pumpkin without all the sharp objects. It also keeps the carving time to a manageable amount before the kids are over it. Totally recommend buy it immediately! I hope they come out next year with more shapes.

Perfect too for Pumpkin Carvings
This kit was a big hit with our kids ages 1-11 and the adults. Everyone was able to participate and had fun punching out the patterns on the pumpkins. For once my husband wasn’t left finishing carving all the pumpkins. The kit comes with a small mallet too, you might want to get another mallet so everyone doesn’t fight over one.
