A: Hi Nia, please let me know if you've had success with this process as I'm about to do the same. A light sand, then white wash to get rid of the yellow. Going for more of a natural raw wood color. Hopefully it works!

A: The old ones were wood. I have the old ones and bought the new ones and those feel and look like plastic that's made to look like wood. They're hideous. And thy have a sheen to them too.
