Q: Can this be sanded down and restained to match the color I want more closely?

A: Hi Nia, please let me know if you've had success with this process as I'm about to do the same. A light sand, then white wash to get rid of the yellow. Going for more of a natural raw wood color. Hopefully it works!

A: The old ones were wood. I have the old ones and bought the new ones and those feel and look like plastic that's made to look like wood. They're hideous. And thy have a sheen to them too.

Q: Is the metal bracket for mounting the 24" shelf the same size as the 36" bracket? I have the 24" shelf but am thinking about replacing it with the larger shelf and it would make it easier.

Would return if I bought it...
I’ve never had this much trouble trying to hang/mount a shelf! I suspect the hardware it came with was defective or stripped. The plastic anchors wouldn’t go in the wall and one even broke off in my wall while trying to screw it in (no, I didn’t hit a stud). I’ve already put too many holes in my wall to keep trying. Luckily, this was a gift.

I truly love these shelves. I bought two, natural finish, 24”. However, the shades of wood were different, not uncommon with wood. They were a bit orange for my liking, I was going for a more white oak finish, so I sanded them with a 180 and sealed them with a clear coat. They are perfect. I hung the top one high so the bottom holes were visible, therefore I installed it upside down so you wouldn’t be able to see the two holes. I have shared pictures of the finish before and after sanding them.

Disappointed
I had previously purchased these shelves a couple years ago and loved them. I needed two more and was hoping they were a match. Disappointed because they changed the stain color. Not a true, natural brown anymore. They now have orange undertones to them. They didn't match with the original ones that I have in my son's bedroom. Also, don't like that they changed the way you hang them. It requires you to drill more holes in the wall. Please go back to the previous stain color!
