A: Sauder furniture is made from an environmentally friendly material called 'engineered wood,' a combination of high quality hard wood and soft wood materials which are residuals of other lumber processes. Tried putting it together, the sides were made wrong, rough edge is where smooth edge should be on the front. Designed poorly.

Book case
I've previously purchased 2 bookcases from Sauder and they were great. I was looking forward to getting this bookcase and expecting a similar product. Unfortunately I was greatly disappointed. It's a very poorly made bookcase with cheap cardboard back that was torn and had to be taped together. The bookcase itself seemed such a poor quality, it already had some minor damage. Have you stopped making the better product?

Quality look
The bookcase is good looking, has nice lines and very easy to assemble which is an added plus. The price was very good and the shipment was timely without any issues. I recommend this bookcase for what it is a small nice product.

This is a beautiful bookcase.
I like this book case. It adds a nice touch to my living room. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the stickers to cover the screws, the don't stick too well and I can already tell they won't last.

Fine for the price
I got it together and it looks fine. The phillips head screws were poor quality and the pre-drilled holes could have been better. Maybe a screw with a square drive? The driver bit (brand new) slipped out of the screw almost every time and made me use some words I wouldn't put in this review.

Functional, but disappointed with some aspects
When putting this bookcase together, I was laying the cardboard backing along the back of the unit, when it ripped in two spots along the fold lines. I wish the cardboard had been a bit thicker so it wouldn't have ripped or don't use cardboard and include a thin piece of plywood. Also, when nailing the cardboard backing to the back of the unit, near the top, I didn't put the nail too close to the edge, but yet it split the top of the wood on the edge (where it is noticeable!). I chose to purchase this particular bookshelf because it was a Sauder (I've had great luck with them in the past). But now, I feel like I should have gone with a cheaper unit from a no-name company. This will definitely make me rethink purchasing a Sauder product. Disappointed.
