Q: Does this have a single cord (w/one plug) that connects the three branches?

A: It's correct that the 3 branches connect for one plug. However, if you buy more than one set, you can't the second one into the first one. :( Therefore, its not a good product if you want to use them line up something, like along your sidewalk.

Q: What is the power source? A transformer? Is that weather-proof?

A: This is powered by an adaptor that is suitable for outdoor use. However, when used outdoors, install only to a Class A GFCI protected receptacle where the transformer is protected from water or rain while plugged in (completely covered by the outlet box while plugged in) in). Do not use where only part of the transformer is protected from rain or water (outlet boxes where there is only a partial cover shall not be used for outdoor installations).This power unit is intended to be correctly orientated in a vertical or floor mount position. LOVED these lights so much that I bought multiple sets after moving and not finding the ones we had a few years ago HOWEVER, we just had one that also split a foot or so from the plug like the other reviewer and now I can’t even get a replacement set. Also, it has always driven me crazy that they do not connect to one another. Not practical at all.

I bought these to use indoors. The quality seems good and I loved how they looked in my arrangement. But when I plugged them in…I needed sunglasses! They are much too bright for my liking, at least for indoor use where I prefer a subtle glow. The light color seems to be neutral, right in the middle of cool/warm. Will be returning.

Not flexible enough to be of use. According to the warning on the plug for this item, it must be installed directly into a weather-proof plug ( no extension cords). There's ~ 70 inches of cord between your outlet and installation of the stick trees, not enough to make the yardscape I had in mind when purchasing. Finally, one tree is partially unlit. =\
