A: 1. Yes, you will need 9 of them for all three houses (LR44, as stated above). 2. My included batteries lasted about 3 days.

These look great especially for the price. Really cute lit up at night. My only complaint is how quickly the batteries died. I had them lit for a couple of hours in the evening for about a week and the batteries died. Typically with stuff like this I’m able to make it through the holiday season without replacing batteries so that’s disappointing. I might try to pop out the lights and replace with other battery tea lights

Dont waste your money
Don’t waste your money. The batteries die instantly and even if you replace them those burn out immediately too. So there’s something wrong with the way they were made. Cheap cheap quality.

Cute, but terrible batteries!
These little houses are cute, though I could wish for slightly higher quality glazing (zoom in to see what I'm talking about). But the thing that bothers me enough to write a review is that the batteries only lasted about three days! I never ran them for more than a few hours a day, so it's dissapointing that they went out so quickly! I would hope that they'd last at least 24-48 hours so it could make it through at least one holiday season! Oh well.
