Review Quotes
I have read other books by Ann Bennett and have given them all five stars because they are excellent. However, I just wish that I could add another star or two to the five that I have awarded A Daughter's Promise. It is a deeply moving account on all levels, from the relationships between the protagonists in each generation, to the horrifying details of life in the POW camp. I learnt so much from this fictional relating of actual events, for which I am very grateful. It has inspired me to find out more about the country.
An exceptional writer and an exceptional book. Five Stars - Amazon Reviewer
Another wonderful story in the Echoes of the Empire series. At times this was a difficult read - learning of the horrors of the Burmese camps. As always Ann Bennett portrays her characters with depth and humility. A great read. Five Stars - Amazon Reviewer
