Bought a razor dual blade, took it out of the box, added oil and fuel. The mower won’t start. Very upset with both Menards and Adrien’s for selling a sub standard mower. Now they want me to take the mower to a service center that’s 20 miles from my house to have it looked at. I would give it 0 stars if I could…

We're sorry to hear about your experience. That’s definitely not the start anyone hopes for with a new mower. While setup issues can occasionally happen, we recommend having a technician take a look to ensure everything is functioning as intended. We appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration.

I've had this piece of junk 4 months (since April 2025). The rear wheels don't release for pulling backward after self propel forward. The front axle adjustment consistently falls off of the height "posts". The engine cover screws came loose (I'm now missing one). The dead-man cable end is broken (I've had to wire it permanently 'wrong') The most dangerous part is the gas cap leaks - the o-ring doesn't seal. I can't fill the tank full. Other than that, it's awesome.

It mows and thatches well so far. Quite the workout to control, thought it would be easier. Extremely loud, can't use in evening or early morning or neighbors get mad. Cheap wheels. Self propel and drive sloppy. Seems to run hot. No one knows how to fix it.

Glad to hear your mower is performing well in mowing and thatching, but we’re sorry to hear about the concerns with noise and drive. Your comments are important and will be shared with our team for review.
Mower products are substandard quality. I would be embarrassed to put equipment like thos out the door of my production facility.

These are basically junk. They are made cheep and we have just had one for a year and it falls apart continuously. The level control is pathetic and slips out of positionall the time. The drive engagement has fallen apart numerous time. I will never buy an Ariens again. I had to put a pin in the level control to get it to stay in place. A photo is added.

We’re really sorry to hear about your experience, and we appreciate you sharing this feedback. This definitely isn’t the experience we want anyone to have with our equipment. Your comments about the level control and drive engagement are being taken— we’re continuously working to improve our products, and feedback like this plays an important role in that process.
Best Mower I've Ever Owned

This is the best lawnmower I've ever owned and I'm 65 years old. I've had this mower for just over a year. We have a large property where it takes about two hours to cut, so this mower really has been getting a workout! There's plenty of engine power, the mower rolls easily with the bearing wheels and the lawn is cut cleanly and evenly. Grass clumping is minimal compared to other mowers when cutting tall, moist grass. The engine always starts by the second pull. I never use the rear-wheel drive system - I always push the mower for the excercise and it really rolls freely. Is this mower perfect? No. It has some flaws, like the occasional rear-wheel lock-up, but is not a problem for me. Also the wheel adjustment controls have popped out of the setting, dropping the mower deck low into the grass...This is a bit frustrating. My last mower (a Snapper) lasted over 20 years, but I had to perform quite a few repairs. I'm a mechanical tech so it wasn't a problem, but I had to do plenty of welding: Cracking of the mower deck was a constant issue, as was the cracking/breaking of the handle bars. I'm hoping this Ariens lasts as long.

bought it cause of engine size and wheel size. its a bit heavy for a 21 inch cut machine and the tires are too wide for easy of turning in tight places. the fit and finish needs to be improves and the rear door assembly is flimsy. i am now on the 3rd rear door assembly. the bag is too cumbersome to install and remove causing the rear door assembly to torque and break the mounting studs. on the plus side it does cut smoothly.

This is a good mower except for 2 things. The bag attachment does not seal well and grass clippings blow on you as you mow. I have to put a strap over the top to hold the plastic top down. The second problem is disengaging the power wheels when trying to back up. Otherwise a good mower.

One of the worst most expensive lawn mowers I have bought. Goes fast, but if you want your lawn completely cut you can’t go fast. Ripcord is wearing out within one year. Back fires a couple of times each mowing. Lots of smoke when I first start it. Shoot plugs when blowing out the back. It sounds like I am grinding gears when I make turns. There are a lot of design issues. I regret buying this mower

Lol - I am not surprised to see the very low rating for this product. I have owned this mower for almost a year now, and my experience is also extremely poor. First - the drive mechanism is not properly adjusted from the manufacturer. Depending on who you buy it from, they may or may not adjust it for you prior to delivery. In my case, it was not adjusted properly and after about 6 uses, I went back to the store and asked them to refund my money and try to recoup from the manufacturer because it seemed like the design was just garbage. The drive mechanism was actively working against me in forward and reverse. I realized that it was easier to push the mower uphill under my own power than to use the drive mechanism. Read that again - the drive mechanism literally made it harder to push uphill. Not only was it not helping move the mower forward, it was making it harder for me to move the mower forward under my own power. Next issue is at the end of a strip when it's time to disengage the drive and turn around, the drive would not disengage so the wheel would drag instead of rolling backwards. I had to forcefully yank the handle backwards to get it to disengage. This did not feel like it would contribute to longevity of the cheap plastic handle. That brings me to overall build quality, which is.. cheap and disappointing. I am coming from a 20 year old Ariens LM21 which I am only replacing because the handle finally broke at one of the pivot points and Ariens does not make replacements. Besides the handle, LM21 is a rock solid machine, built to last and handle a heavy workload. Front casters with grease fittings, thick gauge steel parts, easy to work on. This Razor product is made of plastic and flimsy metal parts and I will honestly be surprised if it lasts 5 years. The plastic handle is already showing wear on hinge points and the run lever has consequently popped out multiple times already. The plastic tabs that hold it in have worn down from less than a year of residential use on a single 7k sq ft lawn. The height adjustment levers have plastic covers that have broken off. The vertical storage method causes the lever to rest on the ground with the full weight of the mower on it. The brackets that hold the front wheels on are made of soft pot-metal. My front wheels are not vertical anymore and I couldn't even tell you why - seems to have just happened from normal use/turning. The only thing this mower has going for it is a clean cut thanks to the dual blade system but there are plenty of options with a clean cut. Ariens has really missed the mark with this product and proven they are now just another corporate company that is cutting quality in pursuit of short term profits. Really disappointing considering they used to put out a really solid product. Ariens will never get another dime from me.

Piece of junk. The rear door broke off after 1 year. Left rear wheel broke after 1 year. Extremely hard to mount the bagger and get the door to sit properly on it. Wheels height is very hard to adjust. I already bought an EGO mower to replace it. I chalk the Ariens mower up as a complete waste.

Have been mowing with this machine for about 6 months - find it works extremely well in mulching mode. Like how the dual blades create an even cut (comparable to Honda) and I much prefer this type of drive system (push to go, similar to Toro's Personal Pace). The 190cc Briggs engine on this machine is a beast - no issues whatsoever and more than enough power for tall / wet grass and to propel the drive system. The wider wheel treads add a measure of stability when mowing hills cross-wise too. I also like the relatively thick steel the deck is made from - it should last quite a while. This self-propelled dual blade Razor Reflex machine feels slightly heavy, I think in part due to its larger engine and robust build - although it is not hard to get used to.

I've had my unit over a year now. For the money spent I would have purchased a different mower. To pull backwards you have to stop the SP, barely move it forward, pause, and pull it back into reverse. And sometimes you need to perform this action multiple times before it actually works. Has been been very easy to start and consistent, reliable starting. SP features are adequate but not at same level as other brands at this pricing. Bag works as expected. Mulching is not great and grass is not as finely mulched as needs. No side discharge, if discharge is needed is come directly out the back onto your legs. Also, Ariens support and registration process is very poor.

Seems to cut grass only issue I've had from the start is sometimes it almost stalls, if I stop walking it runs fine, also at times gas leaks out where carb is at. Thought that was strange for only mowing a couple times when I noticed. Well I'm still using once a week to mow since I've purchased. Still does what I said. Oh and before I use it each time I check oil level and gas level.
