The author finished the drawings in this book in 1937 when the images were fresh in her mind. While Myrtle and Wilfred Stedman's art thrived in the city (Houston, Texas) during the seven years before the depression, their reputations as artists grew to the point that they felt they could go anywhere and do anything.
