Q: Do you have to use the ladder part of the shelf? I'd like to just use the brown geometric part of the shelf and rest it flat on the floor rather than attaching to the wall if possible!

The book shelf is really beautiful and would compliment any room. HOWEVER, it is very cheaply made & began falling apart today. My bottom shelf fell off - the screws were stripped and the “wood” was cracked. I replaced the screws and glued it back together. A few hours later, and it’s broken again along with the 2nd and third tier. It’s very disappointing, and now I have to buy a new bookshelf again.

These shelves look great, especially for the price. They are sturdy and attach to the wall for extra security. You do need to pay close attention when putting these together, but it wasn’t too difficult.

I love the unit. Looks great. It should be said that some people cannot assemble this unit on the floor. My husband and I are in our late 70s. We did manage to put this together by assembling it on top of a desk and then lifting it off to its permanent location. We also did it over a few days so that we would not be rushed into mistakes.

Love the design and easily put together. HOWEVER I slid it on the carpet about a foot preparing to put the side rails on and the bottom two shelves collapsed and splintered. Poor quality of the pressed board. I immediately pitched it in to the garbage.

It looks beautiful. Assembly is confusing- so I don't recommend using the glue because if you have to take it apart, it will be difficult. Also, I did not realize that you must screw holes in the wall for this item.

I did not read the measurements in detail when purchasing and now feel that it is smaller than expected. Assembly is somewhat confusing, had to take it apart and flip pieces around because the instructions are not the easiest to follow. Otherwise, great color and design.
