Description

ROG Crosshair X870E HEROThe AI PC-ready ROG Crosshair X870E Hero offers unyielding power delivery, robust thermal management, hyperspeed connectivity, comprehensive PCIE 5.0 and DDR5 support to unleash the performance of AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processors. Dark hues predominate across this motherboard, drawing your attention to premium metallic textures, nickel-plated surfaces, sleek contours and a stereoscopic visual effect on the large M.2 and chipset heatsink. This board also features our Polymo Lighting II effect. This upgraded lighting module built into the I/O shroud provides more dynamic RGB illumination for the signature ROG logo.ASUS AI INTELLIGENCE | AI NETWORKING IIAI Networking II combines intelligent technologies to continuously optimize network performance, provide trustworthy and seamless connectivity, and unleash the full speed ofWiFi 7.AI OVERCLOCKINGTuning is now faster and smarter than ever before.AI OVERCLOCKINGASUS AI Overclocking profiles the CPU and cooling to predict the optimal configuration and push the system to its limits. Predicted values can be engaged automatically or used as a launching ground for further experimentation.AI COOLING IIBalance the thermals and acoustics of any build with a single click.AI COOLING IIA proprietary ASUS algorithm slashes unnecessary noise while running a quick stress test, and then monitors CPU temperatures to dynamically adjust fans to optimal speeds.Performance OVERCLOCKING | Dynamic OC SwitcherDynamic OC Switcher maximizes CPU performance by letting you set current and temperature thresholds to automatically switch between a manual overlock for heavy multithreaded workloads and Precision Boost Overdrive for single-threaded tasks. The latest Overclocking Load Guard has an enhanced instantaneous current protection mechanism to prevent users from experiencing system crashes during overclocking.Core FlexCore Flex empowers you to smash limits farther than ever before by letting you control clock, power, and thermals in creative new ways.Core FlexIn its simplest form, you can maximize base clock during lighter loads and set breakpoints to gradually reduce CPU core frequency as temperature or current increases. But the system is extremely adaptable, supporting multiple user-controlled functions that can manipulate power, current, and temperature limits independently so that you can bend CPU performance to your will.Asynchronous ClockFor next-level frequency flexibility, the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero features a built-in clock generator that isolates CPU base clock from memory, PCIe, and the Infinity Fabric speed.Asynchronous ClockDrive CPU performance to its absolute brink while maintaining the stability of related clock domains.PBO ENHANCEMENTAMD Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) pushes the CPU current and voltage budget to opportunistically increase performance.PBO ENHANCEMENTBy aggressively tuning the PBO parameters, AMD's algorithm can leverage the motherboard's robust power solution to ramp up performance even higher.Performance MEMORY | DDR5 DOMINATIONThanks to improved signal routing, now enthusiast-grade kits have been driven far beyond the8 GT/s mark on the ROG CrosshairX870E Hero.

    ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO

I bought the ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO to build a new PC as the old one was getting tired, it's like a new lease of life, fast, easy to work on and you can see the quality, although the instructions for different M.2 drive fitting was a little vague on how to tell the difference between them, had to search the web for that, but once sure, a piece of cake. Looks really cool, plenty of fan connectors and 4 ram slots, so I can add more if required, built in IO shield is a bonus, as a separate one runs the risk of covering the usb ports and shorting out when plugging in a device, bios is good once you navigate your way round, overall a fantastic product and I am really pleased with it, thanks

    Beware when buying this mobo!

I bought this flag ship mobo and planned a 1tb pcie5 ssd for my os and a 4tb pcie4 SSD for the storage. I am now facing losing a lot of money because of the lack of support for SSD integration, without losing out in performance! This information should be clearer and not hidden in the small print. The diagrams and spec listing all points to 3 pcie5 ssds and 2 pcie4 ssds being possible in a setup! When only 1 pcie5 drive is possible, without losing performance. Or so I have come to realise! Truly upset and disgruntled by my 1st experience of Asus motherboards. 🤬

    Stable and Fast

I purchased the ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero motherboard for my latest computer build, and it has proven to be stable and fast. CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X DRAM: Corsair 2 X 48 GB DDR-5 GPU: ASUS TUF RTX 570 Ti C Drive: Samsung 9100 PRO Gen 5 NVMe D and E Drives: Samsung 990 PRO Gen 4 NVMe When I first powered it up, 7-segment LEDs stopped changing and the DRAM debug LED stayed on, and I thought that nothing was happening, and I was going to have to figure out what I was going to have to return (CPU, DRAM, or Motherboard). But after a very long minute or two, it continued to sequence the 7-segment LEDs, and then booted into the BIOS. I later learned that the first power-up goes through a rather lengthy “DRAM timing procedure”, so be patient and don’t turn it off! I was somewhat disappointed to find out that only one NVMe will operate at Gen 5 speed, and that’s only if no other NVMe is connected to the CPU (but it’s OK to have 2 Gen 4 NVMe drives attached to the X870E chips). This also allowed the GPU to run at Gen 5 speed. The documentation in the User Manual describes this “bifurcation”, but I had to read it carefully several times before I fully understood it.

    Overly happy

Had some issues with a couple open box boards from a retailer, not ASUS's fault, so waiting for retailer to get in stock so i can swap out for a 3rd board. 1st had bent pins and 2nd a bad ram A1 slot. Currently running on the 2nd board though, ots working great and the install was easy once the q codes shown me it was ram issues. Overall happy with the board. Do check AIO cooler compatibilities with the board though, a m2 heatsink is a lil too high for some.

ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X870e HERO motherboard

I am still loading applications and files but so far so good. The AMD Ryzen 9-7950X3D is a rocket compared to my last build and works well with the board, no surprises. I installed the WIN11PRO64bit operating system on a Samsung M.2-9100-ssd-1TB-GEN5-slot 1. My applications are installed at location slots 4 & 5, using Samsung M.2-2TB-ssd-GEN4 because I am using both PCIe slots for a graphics and a sound card. Note, if you need both PCIe slots, you cannot use M.2 GEN5 slots 2 & 3, the motherboard will disable them. Also, a resource change on the active PCIe slots will occur, from 16 on 1 too 8x8 when you use both slots. I am still loading because I do not need fun distractions at this point, but all is well.

    NOTHING BUT REGRETS

Puchased Asus Rog Crosshair X870E Hero expecting it to be as good as my previous Asus boards..... I was wrong...... No matter what I try it intermittently fails to recognise the M2 NVMEs at 'start up' - help or assistance is non-existant. Have searched for a solution with no luck BUT what was apparent is that many are having the same problem and also having no luck in getting a solution.... This is not the ASUS quality or service that I was used to before. The only thing I can say now is, I wished I hadn't bothered staying Asus

    Great Motherboard, but Stupidly Expensive

Excellent board so far except for the pitiful low number of USB A ports. Looks very good and not horribly blingy, if looks quietly understated, which I like. Only been running a few days but Happy Times so far, and hopefully it will go no for a good 10 years, like my other previous ASUS ROG Motherboards.

    Meaty Board

Excellent motherboard, well fetured, lots of connections, error code L.E.D. which is very usefull if you have boot up problems. Heavy board, lots of copper in it plus lots of protective plating. 5 m.2 slots, very useful, on the whole perfect.

Awesome 870e hero but it could be improved

Great board fast and lots of features. It was so easy to set up. The pen with all the drives was a great bonus. Only criticism would be and it may be something Asus can't do anything about is if you use 2 x nvme gen5 SSD's it cuts the lanes to GPU from 16 to 8.

    Stable, robust motherboard

Very stable motherboard, incredibly simple to install and set up. Many great features, slightly let down by the fact that customization of the on board display is very limited and that you cannot use it to display temperature and power information as you can on some other boards.

Premium Product for a Premium Buyer

This motherboard feels like a total luxury upgrade. The premium build quality is obvious right out of the box, and that backplate is solid. It just makes the whole setup feel sturdy and high-end. My absolute favorite thing has to be all the M.2 slotsespecially since so many are PCIe 5.0. Ive got five M.2 SSDs, and I'm able to use every single one without a hitch. The high-speed USB and USB-C ports are also a win; Im always plugging in random stuff, and its nice to have fast options without scrambling for adapters. That said, I do wish there was more than one HDMI port. Ive got a dedicated graphics card, but an extra HDMI wouldve been handy for quick monitor swaps or troubleshooting. Also, when I first got the board, the Bluetooth was a bit wonkymy audio kept cutting in and out, and it seemed tied to those new easy connection antennas. Id have to unplug and replug them to fix it, which was super frustrating. Thankfully, after a few firmware updates, the issue disappeared, and its been smooth sailing for weeks now. Also, the BIOS flashback button is great. Makes updates way less tedious. Overall, despite a couple of small gripes, this motherboards been a dream to use. Its got the features I need, feels premium, and once the Bluetooth sorted itself out, Ive had zero complaints.
