A: Hi There! You can harvest and eat the seeds or save them for replanting. We typically don't recommend transplanting, as our planters are meant to be the first and only container for the plant. We cannot guarantee success in getting the plants out of the jar and transplanting them elsewhere. Ideally, the roots haven't started circling the jar yet). Be cautious in trimming down / fitting the root ball out of the narrower jar opening. Please let us know at contact@backtotheroots.com if you have questions or concerns!

Q: I want to buy the sunflower kit but it won't fit in my windowsill. could I put it beside the window and would it do as good? kinda of pricely if it won't work like that? thank you

Third time is not the charm
I've bought 3 products over the years, first was a grow kit but it was on sale so I thought it was just end of the season problems. Second year I bought a kit and nothing germinated. Third year I bought just sunflower seeds and ocer half were eaten by bugs with holes in seeds or seeds were already in half and damaged. Horrible brand, just avoid.

BUGS IN SOIL
I just bought this kit thinking it would be fun to do with my daughters. It has been 3 days and there are bugs crawiling all over the soil inside. The jar has been kept in out house the whole time are these bugs are now all over her room.

More a jar a dirt than a kit
I really tried to like this (especially since it comes with an abundance of seeds) but they hardly last more than two weeks. They either get dehydrated because the water just sinks Below the roots can reach or get overwatered due to a lack of filtration. It's a cute idea though.

Love the idea; execution is a challenge
I absolutely love the Back to the Roots idea and the small kit for growing in your home with an easy little kit. I had a couple of seeds start and wasn't able to keep them alive. I think that if you're able to really control the environment, this could work out. Just keep in mind that you'll have to work to keep it alive. :)
