A: Thanks for your question. The shelves on this baby changing table measure 32 inches L x 17.5 inches W with a 1.25 inch lip around all four edges to keep items from falling off. Q: Does the middle shelf have to be included for this changing table to be assembled. I wanted to include a diaper genie on the bottom shelf under the changing table. Thank you.

A: Thank you for your question. The middle shelf must be installed on this changing table as it directly affects the stability of the table. It would not be safe without it. Badger Basket has another model - Modern Changing Table and Hamper - Model 02500 that has drawers under one side of the changing platform and the other side is a tall open shelf that holds a removable hamper. By removing the hamper, this shelf could hold a diaper genie. Please note another model - Sleigh Style Changing Table with Hamper and Baskets - Model 02400 - has similar drawers and hamper, but there is no shelf under the hamper so you would not have a place to put the diaper genie on this model unless you wanted it to sit on the floor. Good, sturdy changing table w/ a few flaws. My set came w/ two less black toggles than it was supposed to have. I made it work but was disappointed as I had read a few reviews stating they had missing items as well and was hoping those were just one-offs. Thankfully it wasn't screws or large wooden pieces. The actual wood itself did come with a few imperfections, I just faced those sides toward the wall so you don't notice. Instructions were easy to follow, I was able to do it myself and I'm 36 weeks pregnant. It would have been smoother with a second person simply because the first pieces you attach together need a support at the end so that they don't sag and bend. I ended up propping them on a footstool to keep them stable. All in all, it fits in our nursery w/ her white crib and white dresser beautifully. All three pieces bought from separate companies so I was a tad concerned they would be different tones of white, but it all works and matches. I agree with others that the changing pad it comes w/ is pretty sad, I will definitely be getting a replacement but if on a budget, it would work just fine - however - I don't know where you'd find a changing pad cover to fit it snugly. It's a good piece to add to a collection and I'm not at all worried about it upholding well.

It's a great table the only thing that I don't like is that a regular changing pad does not fit this table and the changing pad that comes with the table is very very thin and very very flimsy... I really only got it as a temporary fix until I get a different piece of furniture that I will use as a changing table. But it's cute and it will serve its purpose temporarily!

Sterdy and looks really nice in my daughter's nursery. The assembly was a little difficult and gave up on the directions. The shelves made it difficult. Other then that I would recommend.

Received for my baby registry. The picture doesn't do it justice. It's very spacious and can easily hold 6 baskets on the shelves if needed. I haven't it tried it out with the baby yet but it's very sturdy and seems durable. It's beautiful too and isn't poor quality. My only negative aspect is the smell. It smells like chemicals or something of the sort.

If I could take this table apart and return it, I would. Unfortunately most of the screws are now stripped and never coming out because this table is cheap and a pretty low quality. There are metal support bars that are supposed to be screwed in under each shelf, but when you attempt to screw it in, the wood splits and cracks. Without the bars it is a little wobbly.

It took us some time to assemble because some parts were not aligned. After we figured it out, we have up and found a way to put it together and did not use a few of the supports in the package. Nonetheless, the result was beautiful and it looks very nice in our nursery.

The changing table arrived broken and unable to put together. We got it in hopes of having it put together before baby arrived, but that didn't happen. Very disappointed.

The first time we ordered this we received a completely different changing table in the mail. We called the 800 number on the package about returning it for the correct one (that was ordered and paid for and was reflected on the packing slip) and the guy on the phone gave us the run-around, finally I called my local store and they told me to just bring it in to the store. That was SOOO much easier. If that happens to you- take it to the store, don't bother calling the number on the box, they clearly know nothing. Now that I got the correct one, I love it! The pad is thin, but I don't think that'll be a problem. What I love is that the table feels nice and sturdy and matched my Delta Winter Park sleigh style crib perfectly! I think it matches better (and is about half the price) of the actual matching changing table for that crib.

For the price, you can't beat this item. It looks great and is sturdy. My only two negative comments are it didn't come with the belt and my daughter likes to put her fingers in the slats while she is getting changed. Once I picked her up without realizing she had done that so it hurt her little fingers. Now I have to make sure her hands are out of those little spaces.

This changing table is so great for the price. I read some reviews of it being unsturdy but if you put it together correctly - following the simple instructions - it is extremely stable and sturdy. It come with the pad also which is nice. It looks great in the room and offers extra storage space.

i am so tired of people giving great products bad reviews based on THEIR stupidity! this is a wonderful product that is made very well. if put together PROPERLY and THOROUGHLY, it will last a lifetime. For the reviews that said the top piece broke, I would like to bet that they did not follow the directions and attach the STEEL SUPPORT BAR as the final step! This table is only going to be as strudy as the person putting it together makes it. If you are considering purchasing this table, please do not be afraid based on a few bad reviews. It is great and we love it and know you will too!

We just bought this changing table and love it. It is solid and it looks like it cost much more than it did. Our baby hasn't arrived yet, but I will feel very comfortable placing my newborn on it given how sturdy it is. It turned out to be larger than we expected. (I figured it would be the same length as our crib is wide, but it is longer, so I put it head-to-head with the crib. That's what I get for not paying attention to the dimensions.) I wasn't there when my husband put it together, but he said it is more of a two-person job since you have to put several large pieces together at once. Overall, though, no regrets with this purchase.

This piece looks AMAZING in my nursery. I love the sleigh style. You Cannot find a comparable piece of furniture for less, or even in the same price range. This piece is EXTREMELY sturdy! I have 3 canvas bins (check out the koala brand from babiesrus) on each of the shelves and i fill them with receiving blankets, diapers, butt paste, baby powder, and the such. my advice is to distribute the weight evenly across the shelves as to not cause sagging, i make sure my bins weigh about the same and have not had any sagging shelves. The changing pad this table comes with is a joke, as the main changing pad. I use the changing pad they provide under a nice contoured changing pad for extra padding. Make sure when you are getting a changing pad that it is 32" in length as to not have gaps for pad to slide around on. I use the especially for baby contoured changing pad which the cute, soft boppy covers fit nicely on. BOTTOM LINE: this table is beautiful, holds kids up to 30lbs( after that they should be potty training anyways), Matches all other white furniture by different manufacturers, and is by far the best bang for the buck!

received this as a gift with no real expectations but all in all I like it. Its a good height and was easy to put togather. I didn't use the changing pad it came with only because I had received a contured pad as a gift so we didn't install the saftey straps (my other pad has them) but its a nice table and suits its purpose.
