baggallini Women's Modern Convertible Travel Backpack

I bought this to replace my beloved rugged hiking backpack, which traveled well over a million miles with me. I was expecting that anything I replaced it with would fall short. But I absolutely love my Baggallini backpack! First, it holds a lot more than I thought it would. Second, the ability to open it either from the side or from the top is convenient. Genius! Third, the material will be easy to clean. The only downside is that when loaded up, it’s a little less comfortable to carry than my old one because it lacks a chest strap and waist strap to take some of the weight off my shoulders. The old one was made for hiking, that’s why it had those features. To me, the trade-off of being able to open this backpack from the side is well worth it. I would eagerly choose this item again. 👍👍

This is a great flight bag. I just traveled with it for 2 weeks in France. Outbound, I had my toiletries, a change of clothes, my flight gear (eyeshades, earplugs, inflatable pillow, chargers, earphones, etc.) and a hooded fleece jacket in it as well as travel documents and a book. Everything stayed organized and easy to find. My fellow travelers were all complaining about their backpacks where everything became difficult to find as things dropped down into the black hole of a top-opening pack. Because you can open this one on the side, all the way like a suitcase, contents were easy to spot. Also because the interior is a light color, most everything else contrasts against it for ease in seeing. I never used the shoulder strap. I used the back pocket for document sleeves to help located papers quickly. One return flight called for gate-checking of carry-on bags; I took my Baggallini to the counter to offer to gate-check it (if they had plastic bags to protect it), but the agent took one look at my bag and said "that will fit under the seat in front of you." So I took it onboard anyway. It was stuffed full of marketplace finds like a potato ricer and cheese grater. I was afraid it was too big to be considered a 'personal item" because it's nearly as big as my 22" roller bag, but they assured me it qualified!

I'm going on an eight-day European river cruise and I'm packing light, taking only a carry-on plus a personal bag. This handy backpack fits the bill perfectly! I've just unpacked it and tried it out—there's an incredible amount of room, and it has plenty of compartments and zippered pockets for everything I need. I ended up buying two of them! Purchased last year to replace my previous travel backpack which did not have a travel sleeve or a water bottle pocket. Started using it as a gym bag before work - love it for this purpose! Just returned from a two week trip from Greece - this bag did not really fit under the seat in front of me, and I was always worried the flight attendant might have a problem with it being a trip hazard, but thankfully it was fine. I will keep looking for a personal item bag I won’t stress over.

Too Heavy and Bulky for my needs. Wanted for airline travel but it’s too large to fit under the seat in front of me especially on smaller planes. Also too heavy to pack and lift overhead for me as a 5’4” disabled woman with heart failure. Seems well made but impractical for me when I travel alone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great extra bag for trip overseas with desire to take a just a carry-on and backpack! This allows me to easily pack a few extra outfits and some essentials! With lots of pockets for what I need for the long plane trip!

I received a warranty replacement because the buckle on the first one I received kept popping open. The buckle on the replacement did the same! It remained closed once I re-buckled it, but I’m hesitant to keep using it. Very disappointed overall.

This bag has many features but my favorite is how you can open from the side and pack it like traditional luggage, yet it’s lightweight and can be carried like a backpack.

This bag held a lot! Nice features and pockets. I bought it for an international trip and i wanted the option of the backpack feature, but when used as a backpack one of the buckles let go 2x times and its brand new! I would not depend on these backpack buckles to hold if that is how you want to primarily use this. I dont know how well it would hold up for multiple trips either. I will use it with the shoulder strap or carry it by the handle, but im not very happy about that being that this isnt a ´cheap’ bag. I have many baggallini bags… this is not my favorite.

I love the idea of a travel pack as a personal item to add more packing space to my carry on. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars that I would like to see other kind of space for outside pockets. This is just my personal preference, otherwise the bag is great.

This bag is very functional. However, the bag caused a rash on the top of my back where the bag rests, even though my clothing fully covered my back and the bag did not touch my skin. When my teip ended & I stopped wearing the bag daily, the rash immediately went away

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been looking for an airline “personal” item backpack that fits under airline seats and is also machine washable for years! It needed to be machine washable because hello it is placed UNDER the seat. It needed to be the biggest to hold the most but still qualify as a personal item. Ideally I needed a backpack because I already own several Baggallini’s large totes which I love but doesn’t free my arms like a backpack. This also slides onto luggage handles & has the trademark NUMEROUS zippered pockets! I just LOVE this backpack & couldn’t recommend it more highly! Without doubt, one of my smartest & most practical travel or even not travel items I’ve ever bought!

I started flying Southwest for weekend trips and this bag fit my shoes clothes and HBAs. The only issue I have is the pockets in the front are difficult to use when you pack the bag full. Maybe they need to not be flush??

I bought for an upcoming trip and it has everything I need. Plenty of pockets and storage for all my stuff. I can’t wait to use it. It is beautiful and sleek not bulky.
